I'm in Modesto, California (been here for a over week, back home tomorrow/Monday, yea!!). Sunday afternoon we saw a modded Acura that had the hood roundel on upside down, like a V instead of a A. Maybe a stupid question, but we were wondering if:
1. He's a Gang Member
2. He's a Club Member
3. He just wants to be different
4. He doesn't realize it's on upside down
5. California or San Joachin Valley trend
6. Something else

Any ideas?

I've seen this upside down Acura emblem on rice rockets before as well. I too, wondered what the point was. I have no idea. [???1]

I knew this one kid in high school who had this "modded" old Toyota Camry (the old late 80s/early 90s boxy body style) who put a Lexus badge where the Toyota badge used to be in the grille. Except, he put the Lexus badge on upside down, so that it looked like a 7. My other friends and I used to always kid around with him - "Watch out, here comes the 7!" At least he was one of the few who would admit his car was slow!

...they've just turned it into a Honda emblem....[rofl]

Well not sure if it means anything, but the emblem for Acura came about my messing around with the Honda H on the emblem...

The desire to make one's car unique is hardly limited to Hondas.

Certainly, some folks have made some foolish choices in that pursuit.

I think some people like to flip the Acura badge to make it look more like a V or a set of wings.

The Acura badge originates from the idea behind the Acura name, which is a modification of Accurate.

The logo is a set of calipers used for precision measurement.

Far more popular seems to be the JDM badge conversion, where people make their Acura/Lexus/Infiniti into the JDM Honda/Toyota/Nissan counterpart. There are a number of JDM-look Honda NSXs in the states.

I think people that put upside down M-badges on non-BMWs (at least I hope nobody would put one on a BMW) are trying to say that they 'kill' M-cars. Most of the time I would think they are not being realistic, given that I've seen them on such stellar machinery as a V6 Mustang, but who knows.

If its not an M, don't put an M-badge on it. That goes double for Non-BMWs.

Hey I have another one.....what is up with these punks putting Honda badges on Acura's and Acura badges on Honda's? I saw a mid 90's Acura Integra yesterday with a Honda badge on it and a TYPE R badge....which they didn't even make a Type R in that year of production (I'm 99% positive). I just don't get people who change the badges on their car anyway.....I would rather have my car look like a sleeper and have something like an M3 motor in it...with no obvious externals.....then you could embarrass some dumbass out there thinking your just in a 184 hp beamer when in reality you're running 330hp.....but that's just me

its like on the anime Initial D where the EVO team took their opponets team stickers, sliced them in half and pasted them on their wing to show their "kill" list.

as for the honda / acura thing, i believe they are essentially the same company, much like infinity is to nissan and lexus is to toyota.

Speaking of 'kill marks', I saw a Contour SVT the other day that had silhouettes of cars on it's quarter panel (like the ones MINI put out for their owners if you ever saw them). After he saw me drive by, he got all over it to catch up to me. I happened to be turning into a parking lost so he wasn't gonna get any satisfaction anyway.

The SVT Contour stock 0-60 was around 6.8 seconds. With some bolt-ons it can do fairly well if not better than a stock 528i.

Yes, don't underestimate the SVT Contour. 200 hp bone stock.

I ran a few laps at Road America in my 325i against a Contour SVT and he was able to keep up quite well. Granted, it was not a race, but we were racing each other.

He couldn't pass me, but the straight-line speed was close to my 325i if not a little bit faster. I had much better cornering speed and brakes, however, which made the difference.

Yeah, there are quite a few G35 Coupe owners who put the Nissan Skyline 350GT badge on the back, because that's really what it is (in Japan there is no Infiniti). I personally don't like the idea of it because you're just confusing people, and I think stock badges look just fine...be proud of what you drive. [^]
