Normally I am irritated when a manufacturer detunes a car and puts in a power button like the P500 button on the E60 M5 or the Sport button on the E46 M3, but let me tell you that Sport would be very hard to deal with in the winter given how strong it makes the throttle response.
I agree, even in the rain (especially with DSC off) it can be hard to deal with. It can be fun too, but there are times it just wouldn't work to well and could be dangerous especially if you are use to having it off....

Thanks for the info. I checked with the dealer and it does matter what the build date is on an M3 for the IPod adapter. So from what I have found out mine cannot be adapted. I am going to check with another dealer too.....

P.S. I have seen people us the short shift kit with the SMG shifter. The SMG shifter is very nice and look great in/on the car.....

I think the dealer is talking about plugging the Ipod into the back of the head unit as opposed to connecting it through the CD changer cable. As I understand it, connecting it through the changer cable should work for cars as old as 1996. ICBW.

I am sure they were talking about the head unit. To be able to get the playlist to show up on the head unit, they stated the only thing they could do is install an AUX input so you could hook anything up to it, but you would only be able to control the volume via the steering wheel imputs. The head unit display would not work for this type of connection.

Are you talking about the pre-wire CD changer cable or are you talking about actually having a CD changer installed. I don't have the CD changer installed, but (as you know) it is pre-wired. I haven't heard of this type of connection. Will it work with the current head unit? Sound like a possibility. Thanks for the imput....

I am talking about an aftermarket product that plugs into the CD changer cable that allows you to connect an Ipod and may also allow the use of the factory changer controls to control it.

Hmm, that is a cool product. I haven't heard or seen that before. Sounds like it may work, but I wonder how much different it is from the AUX input install judging from this statement:

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Blitzsafe iPOD interface does NOT control nor display information from the iPOD on the factory radio. All control and display of the iPOD remains with the iPOD.

I would want it to be able to be controlled and viewed in the head unit. Maybe I missing something or misreading it.....

Thanks for the link and the info...

Congrat on your new M brahtw8. She is so pretty.

I have the iPod connected to my X and I love it. Sometimes I can't stop myself from skipping songs.
