A big problem I have with Cadillac is depreciation. They drop in value soooo fast.

I am not sure where I found the resale list I will need to look for it again but when I looked at the CTS the lease payments were too high for the car price because or resale.

Agreed, but its all because the standard is set by one and followed by all, as goes the Blazer - X5 analogy. That’s how cars got to were they’re at now, BMW just set the bar a while ago and finally Caddy is getting their, but the bar is about to be raised, and that’s why I buy BMWs.

I can't wait until the American car manufacturers create a standard raising car. I think the CTS-V is a great start. I would much rather that my money stays here in the US. One good thing about the lower resale is the ability to purchase a great used car a low price. I think I will give it a 1-2 yrs and start shopping for a CTS-V.

Well said. I love the rapid depreciation of cars these days - makes for great deals after the first year! And the only reason BMW/Porsche/etc.. hold their value so well is basic supply & demand. Hmm... 1 million CTS's sold vs 400,000 bimmers... wonder which one will depriciate faster?!

I saw a CTS-V today for the first time today, it was parked, so i didnt hear the grunt, but overall it looked good. its hard to tell that its a V unless you know what youre looking for. the rims and mesh grill both arent nearly as prominent in real life as they are in pictures. i had to look twice to tell it was a V. overall it looked nice, it just had a spoiler on the back which i could have done without, but it was probably optional so thats cool.

Resale value is a side issue that mostly matters to lessees. Certainly depreciation if a factor, but that's a result of what really matters: style, reputation, construction, engineering, and performance.

I doubt that anyone who seriously wants an M3 will end up with the caddy. Numbers are only part of the story. It's a completly different concept. The M3 with the short wheel base is agile and instantly responsive. It's look is completly different. It's smaller all around. A Porshe may sway a M3 but not this car. I think it will attract those people who were looking at Lexus gs400 and the like

I think it will sway all the buyers that want a 4-door M3 but can't get it anymore. And the 330 w/PP is just not enough to satisfy them...

I'd bet somebody $1 that the CTS-V will outsell the M3 by the end of '05.

One difficulty that the CTS-V has is that it is competing with the BMW’s already on the market. IMO BMW will always set the bar and be one step ahead, looking at the fact that it is a major car company that doesn’t have a TC/SC in any of their production “sports” cars, which as Jimmy540 has shown, still leaves a great deal of untapped power. Even with that, I agree with many of you, it’s good to see an American car company even attempt to compete with BMW. It may not be as good, but at least it is a step in the right direction.

I just got done watching Car & Driver TV... the first test: CTS-V! Pretty nice to see it on the road. Overall they felt it is indeed a contender. Now it's up to Caddy's marketing department to convince us it's worth a hard look.

And is the CTS-V TC/SC? Nope! Lots more power to be drawn out of it as well!

[werd] All I read was "blah blah blah I'm a close-minded jackarse" And I don't even like the CTS.
So I should change my opinion on american cars just becuase I'm american and to be a true american i have to like american cars?

Should I just forget about all the fucking money and problem's my entire family has had with american cars? Should I just ignore what all the magazines say about the crappy interiors? I guess so.

I also like how i'm anti-american just becuase I do not like american cars [rofl]

I'd like to think of myself as being SMART enough to not buy another american car. If you bought 4 computers from Dell and they were all very shitty, fell apart, didnt work half the time, and their tech support sucked, would you be saying good things about dell's? DIDN'T THINK SO.

So I guess i'm anti american for being smart enough to buy a decent car over some piece of shit.

I never said your were anti-american. Just a close-minded jack-arse. There's a big difference.
Heh I know, i'm sorry that I had a strong opinion about it like that -- I know it's going to be a nice car and all, But i'll personally wait to see what kind of quality it is after a year or so to form an opinion.
