Wow, I must say I'm very pleased with the 7 refresh. I hope these are official (but caption reads "Artist's Impression"). I hope these pics are for real. All the spy photos that I've seen until now showed a flat bottom to the headlight, which was obviously meant to appease naysayers who criticized the current design. But I thought the refreshed light wouldn't mesh well with the rest of the body. But I am very pleased that BMW decided to smooth out and elogant the bottom of the lights (a la 3er) instead of completely flattening them; I think it works well, and I like a lot it(then again, I do like the look of the current 7 already).

Great job leveling out the rear end, too. I know a lot of people hated the rear on the current 7 (I didn't have a problem with it), and I think the new look also works well. All in all, I'm very pleased and want a 7 more than ever!

As for the M6, I don't really care for the rear on the 6er at all, which I think is more aggressive (read: ugly) than even the one on the current 7. And the 2 series just looks funky to me.

Is the 750I/Li being released in the States? I figured it was a Europe only model...??

Wow the M6 looks awesome.
Im not liking the 2 series though, its basically a 1 series without the hatch.
As for the 7 I think they could have done the front a bit differently, the only annoying part is the turn signal, how its right above the lights and not on the side..

The front of the 2 series isn't bad, the back is gross (makes me think of the Chevy Malibu Maxx). The front of the 2 series is sort of Z4 + 1 series, it's not bad at all. The whole shape of the car seems too much like a Scion tC though, and I'm not sure if BMW wants their cars to look like a budget teenager ricer company....

Interesting article. I noted two minor yet important things:

- The "on again off again" 4 Series is "on again"
- Just about every model was discussed except the Z4 and M Roadster

I'm beginning to fall for the M6, but the 2 series looks like a Hyundai!

epj3 how will the 1 & 2 series boost resale prices of the 3?? Surely they will reduce the resale price if anything.

More people would buy the 1 & 2 affecting the amount of demand for the lowest priced BMW, the 1 & 2 would be the new lowest priced BMW and (for the prestige) in result fewer people would want the 3 series.

It could happen two ways, it could be good or bad, more 1 series would be in the market and fewer 3 series and when you go to buy a 3 series used more people would want them with fewer quantity because others could have been diverted to the 1er.

Either which way its a good move for BMW because it will "bump" up all of they're other cars resale prices. But I'm not sure the US market is crazy enough for 3 door hatches - and I don't like they're idea of an "economy car".

Nope. People buy standard no-option 325i's for their spouses. Instead of a 325i, they will now buy a 1 or 2 series (not all of them but they will), and the 325i sales will go down meaning that there will be a higher demand of 3 series when they are ready to be resold, becuase people will want to buy the used 3's.

If we're talking about a second car for spouses, why wouldn't a family in the market for a BMW buy a new 1 or 2 series over a used 3 series? (Given they like both shapes) Therefore, as bmw046series said, there will be an oversupply of used 3-series bimmers which will therefore, as economic theory tells us, reduce the price.

People who WANT a used 3-series will still buy them, but those on the fence will always go for a newer car.

Oh that M6 is by far the nicest looking BMW I have seen yet...........and I don't even like the standard 6er to much. I NEED one. I am taking holiday donations to the "Buy tool fan an m5 or 6 fund" if anyone is intersted...hahaha

E30 318is i think you're quite correct on this matter. I don't see how this will help 3-series sales/prices.

BTW. Its just hit me. The back of the 2-series looks like (apart from a horse's arse) the rear of the Ford Puma.

I love the 5, 6, and 7, series. The new M5 and M6 are sweet. I really like the the new look 7, but as some has stated her already I like the current look too, however it is not my favorite....

It's not going to help it's sales - but it will help its resale down the road. The reason the resale of a GM or Ford sedan goes so low is becuase there are an ungodly amount of them on the road (mostly thanks to rental companies).

Or 325iT's or even X3 shoppers. I'm now waiting for the 1 hatch to come to get the wife a new car.. I certainly can't be the only one, good car for the uber-rich to buy their youth instead of a 3 as well (like it or not, this happens a great deal). Also a good stepladder car into BMW's array for 1st time buyers, without having to put down a housenote for a car.

Seems like a market to me?
