While I totally understand that for the safety of American troops, they cannot stop, or slow down while in the Humvee, navigating Iraqi traffic...I do not find this cool, or exciting.

This American Humvee, just plows it's way thru traffic, and just rear ends anything and everything in it's way. Honestly, this video just made me more aware about why Americans are so very disliked, and even hated thru much of the world. This video showed supreme arrogance. It embarassed me.

Just imagine if Iraqi soldiers, or "gasp".....French or German soldiers were driving their armored Gälendewagan thru American traffic, ignoring all traffic rules, pedestrian safety standards, and rear ending your BMW...just because it was unsafe for them to stop in a country that hates them. Just turn the table, and you'll see this video is a big problem.

Having family member there I have to disagree Adam, it is not about arrogance it was about safety and responding to a call for assistance. My nephew who drives a Humvee said that at times they will be 1/2 way across town when another unit, American, Iraqi, or others calls for assistance and they will have to "bust" through traffic to get there. Other times the insurgents will try and block in a convoy or Hummer and detonate a car bomb on them. Political correctness is BS when it comes to saving lives! I do not know if that was the case in this video, but regardless the mainstream "American's are so very disliked" is a blatant false statement.

Hey Dan,

I knew my statement would not be popular, and having family and a few friends in Iraq also, the safety of our troops (and British, etc..) is the main priority for me. Without being more unpopular on our Board, the problem is that we are in a country that we have no reason to be in. If we were still aggressively in Afghanistan or more importantly Saudi Arabia (but god frbid we step on Bush's ties and monies)...then I think American Supremacy would be more appreciated.

I do not care if Iraq falls apart, all troops need to come home, before we lose anymore innocent American lives. Let them kill each other. Just my 2 cents.

I meant no disrespect in my first post, and again the troops are the innocent ones, fighting a war for our crazy president's goals, ideas!

Adam no disrespect taken and we will just agree to disagree, but that is the beauty of America! I do not want to get into a political discussion here so I will just let it go as is. I still love you man!

Love ya like a brother.but......... Tell those idiots to to stop planting landmines in the roads and simply blowing up their own people. Kind of hard to really have alot of respect for a group of people that have none for life period.

Yea, the latest tactic is to go to mental hospitals/old age homes, grab an 80 year old woman with Alzheimers, strap a remote control bomb to her, and set her loose in a market like a radio controlled toy.

How evil and despicable is that?

Also, I think one other thing worth pointing out... anyone on the board who is or knows someone on any police force can attest to this... when an officer in an unstable environment, the officer must portray a sense of authority and power, otherwise "evil doers" or onlookers will not respect the authority. I have head many stories from friends who are on the police force sometimes you have to put your knee in the neck of a kid in front of a crowd to make some people think twice about disobeying the rules. Thus, by driving around the town in such a manner is a demonstration that the Humvee is "tough" and will not fall into traps. I think the main reason that people (even myself) find videos like this "over the top" is because we are operating from a standpoint of logic and we respect authority because we can see the inherent benefit of it. When you are in an environment where the people you deal with do not share that respect, one must give the appearance of a bully or risk safety and your position.

Just my two cents.

Last year I was looking at real estate in Texas, and these were "executive"
homes of 3,500+ square feet on tree-lined streets, with top schools.

Must have looked at 200 houses in 2 weeks. All with decorator touches,
built in pools, etc.

In a great many of these lovely homes (perhaps 30%), was a bedroom
of a young man heading into the military.

I'm just making the point that down South, many people with the most
opportunity available to them join the military. They certainly weren't
poor or 'losers' as often the stereotype put forward by the "mainstream"
media and others.
