2.2004 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 - $14,900 39,703 miles

I ve did some digging and the Jag owners seem preety pleased with their cars .This one still has some warranty on it , so ....Any suggestions ???

Why SUV vs sedan? I would say go with the sedan...easier to drive, newer, classier, better fuel consumption. The Jaguar is a no-brainer unless you need something for the snow and/or the trunk space.

I do like Jags if only they weren't built so poorly, you know there is something wrong with a luxury car if it looses its value so much.

Jermey Clarksons' review of the X-Type sometime ago...

Yeah, the X and S type don't have the best build quality (although they are actually pretty good looking cars!).

The XJ sedan and the XJ8 coupe/cabrio have exceptional build quality, and score quite high in many consumer based magazines & reports. Jaguar has one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings and brand loyalty!

BTW, I had a 2001 ML320 for about 1 year, and it was AWFUL. You could not count the rattles, squaks and shakes. The build quality was pure rubbish, and it was constantly at the dealer for numerous & very frequent problems!!

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that. I had a 99 ML430 then I had an 02 ML500. Both of them were like a bank vault. I highly recommend the M-Class because it is very roomy on the inside for a mid-size SUV, it handles very well at the cost of ride quality, and it was just a very complete package. For its time, the previous-generation M-Class was even a much better value than the X5.

I've only heard bad things about the ML320.
Very poor reliability ratings by Consumer Reports.

Jaguar has suffered in quality and reliability issues as well.

Ford='s Jag='s build quality issues (cheaper to repair though)

Its a great car, he's looking at a 320 not a 55. Reliability isn't that great on the 55 but it isn't horrible either, that and the performance of the car more than makes up for it.

While a 320 on the other hand is a nightmare to the Nth degree.

I had an X-Type and it is a really nice car. I liked it a lot but in the first two years I had it in the shop 16 times. Some of the problems were very minor. I would look for an 04 or newer.
