Actually, I know the $440K or whatever is expensive as hell, but my friend works for MB and he was telling me that the SLR is more like "a special car for the industry" rather than a profit thing. This is because although the car costs mad loot, there is a crazy amount of cost to build them. Plus, if somebody's SLR has problems, they fly several techs out to the SLR owner's local dealership, first class and immediately.
