Why do I never get a ticket in NYC?

Hey,

So howcome my friends and I never get tickets when driving in NYC? My friend has gotten pulled over like 5 times in NYC for crazy lane changes and basically acting like an idiot, but they always let him go. Last Friday night, I made the worst display of driving in front of a cop. I pulled a really quick left into a one-way street (heading the other way) and then I slowed down and stopped because I finally realized it was a one-way, lol. So I turned around making a K-turn and on the final turn, I accelerated hard while turning left sharply and the LSD made my rear tires howl and I just whipped it all the way to the red light, only to stop in front of a cop on foot. He yelled at me to pull over and shut off my engine and he was a real asshole (as usual), and he asked if we had been drinking and I told him no (the truth, I don't drink & drive). So then he went back into some little booth with all my info and made a phone call or something and shuffled through some book, and then he came back and gave me all my info and didn't say a word. He went back into the booth and I was just sitting there and two minutes later, he was like, "You can leave" and so I just bounced. I've gotten pulled over once more by a NYC cop a while ago but no ticket, as usual. Now my question is, why do we never get any tickets from the cops? Is there something special about NJ drivers, that they can't ticket us or something?
Because if there is some kind of loophole or something that prevents cops from giving me a ticket, I'd like to know about it (so I can take advantage of it, obviously).

Thanks,
MrElussive

Maybe he didn't see the oneway mishap, and just saw you take the turn like fire and then stop fast in front of him. In that case if you're not drunk and your info checks out, he has no reason to write you a ticket. Afterall there is no ticket for driving crazy. [burnout]

Or maybe the officer just happened to like you and you got lucky (another possibility).

Well, his booth is at the corner of the one-way street so he saw the whole thing. And I don't think the officer liked me, he was yelling most of the time. He was like, "Any reason why you're driving 90mph down a one way street?" Obviously not true, the fastest I went on the street was about 35mph, my car is just noisy during acceleration and I took the turn kinda quick so he thought I was going mad fast.
The cop first yelled at me to pull over. First he was like, "PULL OVER AND SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF!" and I was just starting to pull over to the right and he was like, "SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF!!! SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF!!!" He was just going apeshit and being ridiculous and I get defensive easily so I yelled back, "ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT!!" because it's not like I wasn't cooperating, and he finally chilled the hell out and started talking to me like a normal human being. And while he was checking my info in the booth, two cops on horses showed up, as did a squad car. It was almost as if they were afraid I was gonna start my car up and make a run for it or something.

He had no idea how fast as I was going, but he could have given me a ticket for wreckless driving, but then again not really, because I was the only car on the road and I wasn't really being "wreckless", I just did some hard acceleration...the way I like to drive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Police like reckless driving cases, unless there is a civillian complaint/witness, afterall they do need a case. As for the yelling thats typical, what can I say tough love..... [hihi]

Well, my point is that you can do whatever and they really don't ticket you at all. You can speed, cut people off, run a red, etc. If you actually do get pulled over, all they ask is if you were drinking tonight and they check your info, and then they let you go. I guess they just have more shit to deal with than poor driving (since everybody drives poorly in NYC).

Heh, I dont drive poorly.. Although I am slowly becoming an Asshole on the road due to other people. I have a big car so everyones afraid of me. But its true NYC cops never pull u over. I mean cmon ive been driving in NYC without even a permit
Never once did i get pulled over. I sometimes drive alone looking for a parking space without a parent and yet they dont stop and pull over. Although I dont want to jynx myself on that one. Nyc cops mainly target taxis these days. I often see cops pulling over those yellow bastards. [mad]

I didn't mean to insult NYC drivers. I meant as in everything is much more fast-paced and quicker lane changes and stuff. Come on, you know what I'm talking about, typical crappy NYC driving that everybody's used to. I live in NJ but I go to NYC every week-end so I'm used to it but it really is "crappy driving", and I just join in on the fun. [wiggle]
The cops pull over the yellow guys a lot because they are causing a lot of problems. They love to go fast because they make more money when they go fast and get more passengers to their destinations, but a lot of times they cause damages to other cars and they don't stop or do anything about it because they don't give a shit. That's illegal and it's not fair to the other motorists.
One time, when my uncle had his 2001 MB S600, he was in NYC and this bus bumped into the side of his car while performing a lane change and the bus driver didn't stop or anything, he was still going. My uncle flagged him down and was like, "You just hit my car" and he goes, "I'm very sorry sir, but do you really wanna call the cops and stop everything?" so my uncle just let him go because he knows the bus driver is on a tight route and the damage was like a couple scratches to the car (which he got fixed for not so much loot). The public transportation dudes need to chill out...it's cool to go fast because their salary depends on that, but when they start causing accidents and other problems, that's when it's time for them to cool off a bit.
