so what's your opinion on wheel locks. i need to get a set but i'm not sure which ones to get. should i go with factory bmw locks or the ones made by guerilla? does it really even matter? will these actually deter someone from stealing your wheels?

I have BMW wheel locks on my cars and like the idea. Yes they will deter thieves, why steal locked wheels when you can get the other guys unlocked wheels. Downside, lose the key and they will deter you as well.

Big Daddy is right. It's a deterrance that will 90% of the time or more, cause them to go look for easier targets. Sorta like having a barking dog in your home, intruders generally leave homes alone that have dogs.

I remember a story when this guy lost his key. He went to a tire shop to get the lock nuts removed and the mechanic told him that his key is on one of the locks. [hihi]

is there an advantage of using the bmw wheels locks vs other brands. i've noticed that bmw locks are designed differently from other wheels locks. bmw locks have a removable cover and a key that is inserted to remove the locks.

Get the ones where the nut is flat on the outside and the key goes into the nut, because if you get the ones that have a wierd shape on the outside, it is very easy to force the wrench on the nut with a hammer making the lock useless. Other than that, I don't think there is any difference.

[wave] & thanks, bmw4life13 ~ [and others above...]

I just took delivery of a 'ZHP' and never even thought of 'wheel locks.'

I'm on an island until April and that will be my next BMW investment. [cheers]

lol, NO, or is it? lol
Actually it was my dad. His brother borowed his car and blew a tire so he had to put the spare on and the stupid idiot that he is, he left the key on the lug nut.
