What would be the best choice?

Lately I've been debating this with friends and we haven't come up with a satisfying conclusion. Let's say that you're a professional driver with a serious high-performance car, something like a Porsche GT2. Now, if you're driving down the road and you see a cop trying to pull you over, and you know that with this car and your skills you can easily get away, what should you do? Would it be better to get away, even if the cop gets your plates? Or should you stop? Basically, which choice would put you in less trouble? I think that if you get away you should be alright because the cop has to have proof that you were speeding... I don't know. What do you guys think?

Also, is it true that it's illegal to have pursuits in some states?

On the Gumball 3000 some guy with a Turbo saw a cop coming out on the road after he passed him. The Turbo guy just did 150mph for 15 minutes and the cop was gone. That's what I'm talking about. But in a similar situation, if the cop gets your plates and you decide to keep going and eventually outrun him, what happens then?

I dunno, the words "lawyer," "judge," "jail," "insurance," and "license" pop into my head. Sure, you might get lucky, but it's a dumb bet, unless you have nothing to lose. Anyone driving an M3 or a Porsche probably has too much to lose to make that type of bet.

if i was a good driver, and had enough dough to bum around in a gt2, i think at my age it'd be fun to have a chase. because even if i did get my license taken away, i'd just build a track in my backyard, and race around in many of my cars. practicaly thinking, i don't think i could ever have enough money to just sit and laugh at a countries laws, but there would definately be a little friend in my head screaming to please just hit the gas and see what happens.

i have done it on two occations at the same stop sign. cop happens to be driving by while im pulling out of my neighborhood and i never stop at that sign (onto a 5 lane).

i climb the hill and i see him swing it around and put on lights just i crest the hill but there happened to be a bit of traffic both times too to slow him down.

i pull into another neighborhood and take some quick turns and take back roads the rest of the way. easy, but dumb as hell.

you almost never can out run the radio, like codex says.

A couple of words come to mind.
Radio
helicopter
jail
I think my position on this one is pretty clear.
Not to mention crashing or getting shot. Cops are known to get pretty hyper during 100+mph car chases.

Pretty sure I'd be pulling over, the only way I'd even consider it is if I *did* have some sorta rocket like a turbo porsche, and was in some remote area where the cop that just spotted me, is certainly the only one for a few miles. AND I'd have to be CERTAIN he didn't see the plates. Even then, I prolly wouldn't, fancy cars like that are few and far between, they dont just go 'missing' or 'stolen' without being instantly reported, so that fib is pretty much gone (And the stolen car certainly isn't going to suddenly appear again in *your* driveway.. Not a porsche at least, maybe a pinto..) [;)]

It really isn't worth it, if you get nailed with some sorta silly felony (If you're driving fast enough and dangerous enough, you better believe it's felony time). Felonies are like crabs, ya carry them around forever like luggage.. [:D]

if you've played GTA u'd kno that it's a pain in the ass trying to outrun cops, especially when u hit 6 stars, that's when they get the FBI after you AND the army, then u've gotta worry about the tanks too......ok back to reality, if they've got ur plates u're ultimately screwed, cops have choppers and no porsche or similarly 'fast' car can outrun a helicopter

If they got your plates, they will find you, with guns drawn. After they finish throwing the book at you (speeding, evading arrest, wreckless endangerment, confiscate your car as evidence, anything else that can stick, etc), you'd wish you had stopped and taken the speeding ticket.....

Eluding a police officer can be a felony in most all states now. That means prison, loss of some "rights" even after prison, suspended license, insurance rates through the roof, maybe even having your insurance company cancel you...which can mean you can't get insurnace. Bad idea either way, and not very mature.

It also depends what they see you doing. I think if the cop wants to pull you over for a basic speeding ticket it something, its worth pulling over. If the cop is after you for something thatd get you in deep crap anyways, you may as well try and get away. though i dont think i have the balls to start a chase, it just makes sense

oh come on[wiggle]

haha, i reread the title, best choice would be to stop, but most interesting and what would create the best story would be to hit the NOS on your E30 w/ a V12 and dip to mexico with the girl who got you in all the trouble in the first place.

In colorado in order for a cop to get into a car chase the chasee must have commited a fellony crime or the cop must know that the person in the car will be a continuous danger to the pulic. Most cops wont risk a chase if you were just speeding.

My girlfriends dad is a cop and we just discused this topic. He says that eventualy they will get you and they will give you a free ride to all of the city/countys that want you for any reason.

I always wanted to take an F1 car on the highway. Just imagine the speed and the cool factor!!
