What to do, going to Germany

Hello, long time no post for me. Well Im in the Air Force and am ging to Germany. I currently have an E39 525i 2001. Should I sell it and get one over there, retrofit it to US specs and bring it back in 3 years? How much is a retrofit? What should I get? Anyone else gone through bringing a car over here? Thanx.

Hi, I'm retired military, just before I retired in 96, they changed the rules and said to bring a car back from Europe, you needed to have one shipped over, or you would incur the total cost of shipping. In my time we had many people change their european car to us specs before shipping, if I rememeber correctly, it was about $6,000 each. Good luck!

Awesome, Thanx. I will prolly buy a POS to ship over then. Im seriously considering selling the car. I mean would it be worth it? Are the cars much cheaper over there? Thanx for your comments.

A member here, Krafty, is in the service and just did Euro Delivery on a 3 series. He is in the Azores. I might be wrong, but I think he did a special ED program specific for military personnel. He could probably shed more light on it.
