I like the looks of the A5, but I'm not sure about the handling/performance compared to the 335i.

After my daughter wrecked the '94 325i, I replaced it with a 2002 A4 1.8T. From the little bit that I have driven her A4, I like the ride and handling but it ISN'T a BMW, much softer than the BMW. We ran it in Autocross, I didn't really like it on the track, but it is a great road car.

I've now seen 2 A5 Audis on the road, and they are really, really striking! They look good from every angle! Also, owning an A6, Audi interiors and their quality is probably the best of any car made!

The 335i coupe is also beautiful, and looks good from every angle as well. In typical BMW fashion, the interior is well made, but a little cold and slightly boring (as are most new BMWs...my new X5 is drop dead gorgeous, but the interior is cold & flat).

The new C-Class is in my opinion, the best looking new model Mercedes on the road. It has major road presence, and the build quality is A+. The only problem is that it comes standard with MB-Tex interior. Most people will think it's leather, and the stuff lasts with NO maintenace for like 30+ years, but if you are used to buttery soft leather, you will feel ripped off. I think leather is an extra $1000.00, and 99% of all C and E Class models sold in the US, come standard with MB-Tex..and Germans are really cheap, so I'm sure all models in D-Land have the fake leather. It's a quality, durable product, but I think leather should come standard with a Mercedes-Benz. Also as of late, Mercedes quality & reliability has been excellent, and I think will suprass BMW.

After all that....I would go with a Montego Blue 335i coupe!

When I was selecting the interior, I looked at two lease turn-ins. One had "leatherette" (looked brand new) one had leather (looked worn, with ass-prints, etc).

Went with the leatherette. [driving2]

Almost 5 years later, stills looks perfect.

My 91 318is had "leatherette" and it was in near perfect condition after 165k. My roadster shows wear in the normal BMW fashion, on the bolsters and it is real leather!

Hey Dan & William,

Yeah, BMW's "leatherette" and Benz's "MB-Tex" is, as I said, really durable and quite practical. My cousin has a 2004 E46 with leatherette, and it shows no wear. In all honestly though, the MB-Tex feels and looks a lot more like leather than BMW's leatherette.

I agree, that both fake leathers are a wise choice, and they are very practical....but if everything was about practicality, a lot of us would be driving mini vans or Camrys [unsure]

IMO, leather just looks, feels, smells better and adds value to any high end vehicle. You never hear people longing/dreaming for leatherette! He he

I would not trade the leather in my roadster (except for some more leather not worn), I agree Adam, I love the look, feel and smell of leather, but ust admit that the leatherette in my e30 wore better.

335i

335i All the Way. I've had mine since August and love it. Just tint the windows and enjoy. The handling, performance and ride is fantastic. Just take one for a test drive and post pics. =) You can probably receive a better deal on one too. You should at least receive 1500 off the sticker if not more. If you're in the Los Angeles area, let me know.

Cheers!
