I think every E46 has this on their rear bumper. Look at the picture you can see a square cut out on the right, just above the air ducts. I've seen this on every E46 so it's not because of the body kit. Anyone know what it's for? some sort of an outlet maybe?

your manual should also explain that. hopefully you will never need to use it. i did it once. i toed a twingo (barely a ton and barely larger than jordans right foot) but already that was a pain to my car.
