Hey,

I've heard this term many times before, and we have our very own "bahnstormer" on the board, but what the hell does it mean, exactly? I search and search, but I cannot find a web site that actually EXPLAINS the meaning of it. My impression is that a bahnstormer (coming from "autobahn" and "stormer") is a German automobile that is very capable at high speeds. But at the same time, I have seen references to "bahnstormer" as a BMW motorcycle. So what's the deal, does anybody know??
It sounds like a pretty hot term that I'd like to start using. [slap]

Thanks,

I told you, it's just the word "barn stormer" (from the ww2 planes), replaced with "bahn" from the german word for highway, so bahnstormer.

I think it actually had to do with the pre-WW2 bi-planes of the late 20's and early 30's. If my memory is right, and the Disney channel taught me correctly, then they were named so b/c they would fly real low over the tree line in order to entertain the paying passenger. In being so low, they would sometimes buzz past a barn, causing things in the barn to go crazy.
