Tom's almost got it. The previous car from this company (Volga) was a custom car with a BMW V12.
This is their new car - it's actually a stock but RESKINNED 6 Series convertible! Look at this photo, you can see the interior is all 6er. I guess it's the Russian version of AC Schnitzer?![[hihi]](/images/smilies/icon_smile_hihi.gif "Hi Hi [hihi]")
It's actually styled after an old 50s/60s Russian car.

Car & Driver had an article on another Volga car. Pretty cool stuff. Russia can make incredible stuff. It's just that their economy got all screwed up cuz of communism and now it's like a crazy free for all. If they can get their act together, they'll be a force again. Country that big with that many resources just has too much potential.
Yeah, Volga was the official car of the Communist Party. They were always black, and only important party members had them, or could use them. There was also a "Volga Only" lane inside of Moscow, so officials could drive without traffic, and not have to deal with all the crappy, oil burning lawn mower engine Russian & Easter Bloc made cars!!
