I was browsing other forums and stumbled across this. The information in the links is astounding! As soon as I finish replacing the hoses on my 318i I am going to try it. If anyone else does, post your results, just FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS [bash] !

Also, why not email the main link http://www.pureenergysystems.com/news/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/
to the media, government represents, etc in your area. Maybe we can get something done, like less alcohol in gas and more acetone. [bmwdance]

I personally won't be putting paint thinner in my gas. I'd rather deal with the 20mpg highway.

Plus those 'studies' seem kind of like they WANT the results to be "it works"

"report that 3.5 oz per 10 gallons led to 20%+ DROP in fuel economy. One test only. Could have been measurement error."

If you're trying to do a REAL test in which you accept any possible result (hence the reason you are testing), there shouldn't have to be a disclaimer as to why a result is NOT what you want it to be.

Seems kind of shady.

Yea but is the increase in gas mileage worth the price of the acetone (assuming it work).
I'm ALWAYS skeptical of this, becuase GT racers would be using this to avoid pit stops. It all reminds me of the "magical carburetor"

I'm open to any and all new technologies, but this one is mostly hogwash to me. I read all of the pages, information, etc. and it's 98% unscientific testing, misleading or outright wrong, and wishful thinking. One site claims 20% - 30% increases, another claims 2% - 10%.

My biggest concern would be damage to the fuel system. It's a known fact that alcohol can damage fuel systems, and acetone is MUCH closer to alcohol in chemical composition than gasoline. There are reports of gasket/rubber swelling with acetone! Hello!!!! There is a message there! And it isn't good!!!

I love the reports of cleaner emissions. No scientific evidence except "The exhaust smells better." [slap] [rofl][rofl]

Finally, unscientific "measures" of fuel economy increases are prone to unintentional error. Studies have show that fuel mileage increases can occur - BUT it is because the driver, in the hope of increasing fuel mileage, unconciously actually changes his driving habits, creating the "better" fuel mileage.

Maybe I'm just a little too optimistic and open minded. [B)] But, I still may give it a shot. I would rather use acetone in my fuel than alcohol, since it is a much weaker chemical than alcohol.(Okay, maybe not much weaker, but weaker none the less)

But two, I'm sure the idea of adding alcohol to gas saw just as much opposition and it is known to lower mileage and detirorate rubber parts (except in the new FFV vehicles). Oh well, just thought I'd put the information there.
