"As you may remember, Mercedes-Benz built a bulletproof parade vehicle for Pope John Paul II's use later in his life. Now, following in Mercedes' tire treads, Volkswagen has expressed interest in building a "Pope-mobile" for newly minted Pope Benedict XVI, the former Cardinal Josef Ratzinger ofGermany. But there isn't much time to spare - the goal is to have the one-of-a-kind vehicle ready for the "Katholischen Weltjugendtag" (World Youth Day) in Köln (Cologne, Germany) this coming August."

Just to protect a human being like any other. For each minute hi rides in his new car, 35 children dies of hungry in the world. I see the vatican as a horde of homose#$&/# living in a permanent money and power orgy, using the brainless people that gives his dollars to the Ambrosian bank.

I think the "popemobiles" are weird, but it's their church and that is their business. To say that they could feed the hungry with the expense of the "popemobile" well, so could Boeing, BMW, Donald Trump, John Kerry, etc. but maybe these people/organizations are doing something and I believe the Catholic Church does a lot of good in this world too.

I'm surprised Kirby hasn't come in here and deleted your post yet. So let me say my peace before he comes in here and likely deletes mine:

You're a fool and pathetic person if you get your jollies posting your political/anti-Catholic sentiments in a forum designed for auto enthusiasts. Your claims are easy enough to refute, but I won't grant them the slightest bit of credence other than to point your ignorance and stupidity.

Perhaps you and your fellow denizens should focus your attention on more serious matters, such as holding your own corrupt and morally bankrupt government responsible for its poor handling of your country's drug-infested society - a system which condones and breeds some of the worst offenses of depravity, human rights violations, and poverty the world has ever seen. Sorry for my post, instead of writing pope related posts, I'll pray for my soul [pray]

PRAY = Action of talk alone (some people do this in groups for more power) with the roof, waiting for things that, if are possible to happen, perhaps will happen with or without a prayer.

Wallie05, why are you so disturbed, I do not pretend to ofend any of you. And for sure I know more about your country than you even imagine. Don't read news, visit us, as a lot of US friends do. I dont only read the W. Post, I visit the States twice a year since 1970. AH! I know, for example, Honolulu, Hilo, Volcano national park, Seattle, and many other cities, I love for example S. Francisco, Atlanta, and in the top of all, a little vacational place named "Steven Pass" near Seattle, what a wonderful place in winter.

Come to Colombia, let us show you the hospitality of our people. People trying to solve the huge problem of the drug production ignited by the US an Europe abuse of it.
[cheers]

Wallie05 you can get the same point across without attacking someone personally. Every time you don't like something, someone has a different viewpoint, or there is a post that directly contradicts your post you immediately go on a personal attack and rant to get your point across. It gets old.

Learn to deal with people in a civil manner and open discussions without personally attacking them. Kirby had every right to delete your personal attacking post just as he did for Emile. If you don't like it PM Tom...

The only thing that's getting old is your self-righteousness. I don't mind if some one posts something that I don't agree with (I see it all the time); I don't even care if they do a little name-calling. All I ask is for the ability to do the same -- the ability to post a response to that post without somebody else calling me out on it. But I do have a problem when the mods delete certain politicized/inappropriate posts but not others -- I realize that's up to their discretion, but what I've noticed is poor judgement in many cases.

Your respone is typical. Instead of responding to the initial problematic/controvertial post, you reply to my, as you deem, inappropriate response. Your claim that "every time someone has a different viewpoint, or there is a post that directly contradicts your post you immediately go on a personal attack and rant to get your point across" is problematic for three reasons. 1) It is a GROSS misgeneralization; 2) it is exaggerated in terms of its portrayed frequency ("every time"?? Please, find the # of posts where you feel I personally attack somebody, divide that figure by the number of my total posts, and please forward the % to me); and 3) it ignores the fact that this type of "discussion" is not all that uncommon on this board.

Gus's post can be seen as inflammatory for at least two reasons. First, it can be said that it uses the term "homosexual" in a deragatory and slanderous manner, as I'm sure some of my left-minded colleagues would be quick to point out. Secondy, it can be seen as equally if not more offensive to Catholic members.

But regardless of where you stand on those issues, the bottom line is that Gus's comments have absolutely no automotive or BMW relevance and they are offensive, yet his comments are allowed to stand??? Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I can't help but wonder if the reason why Gus's post is allowed to remain posted is because its message seems to coincide with Kirby's left-leaning political views. Furthermore, I'm sure you haven't forgotten our little, civil "debate" regarding the merits of SMG, and for this reason, your response and its tone do not surprise me in the slightest.

Please PM me if you would like to discuss this matter in greater detail.

BTW. I found this link in regards to the Mercedes and BMW Popemobiles. I thought Mercedes had a contract for the Popemobile. Check out BMW's X5 4.8 proposal.

Wallie,

I didn't see your original post, but I assume the difference between yours and Gus' thread is that you made a personal attack against someone on this forum. There is a difference between making a subjective post and one that is aimed at attacking someone. And I completely agree that Gus' comment was made in poor taste. Any case, lets get back on track and drop this whole off-topic issue and move on.

On a positive note I like the X5 pope mobile its a really nice find, but I dont think they'll put the 4.8 engine in it since as they stated "it crawls along" I think he'll end up with an X5 3.0 engine (the new 255hp one).

In the interest of ending this speculation and misinformation about why I deleted several posts, please read the following that everyone agreed to when they joined the forum:

In your use of these forums, you agree that you will not post any information which is vulgar, harassing, hateful, threatening, invading of others privacy, sexually oriented, or violates any laws.

The posts that were deleted contained profane, harassing, hateful and threatening information, and it was directed at specific individuals. They were deleted for that reason, and that reason alone. Gus's post was mild compared to those deleted.

In closing, to correct Wallie's comments about me, I am far from a left leaning political viewpoint, and there are tons of posts here that reflect my generally moderate right wing opinions.

However, I am left handed and therefore I sight my guns with my left eye. Does that make it a left leaning view? [hihi]

Back to the Popemobile - remember the post about Lamborghini donating a car to the Italian Police? How about a Diablo Popemobile?

First thing I do when I come home is to read mi emails, second one is to visit my beloved forum, I'm surprised, what a huge comments about my ideas about the Vaticano.

I lived in a catholic family since 1954 ( the year a born). Colombia is a Catholic countrry. What this means, I don´t know. Here, in my microscopic circle of friends, our first goal is to to give love to any person able to receive it.

Plese don't talk to (pray) the roof, instead talk to your people, say them, there is many things above the sky to discovery.
