Too funny. I'm not sure what's worse: driving that way or driving a VW.
Nothing wrong with rocking a dub. My little '95 2.0L has a lot of attributes that I wish that my '94 325i had. However, included in that list is neither a 2.0L engine or fwd.
And, I think that there are more than a few people on this board that think that weaving in and out of traffic cones like that would be a heck of a lot of fun. Not that it's something that I would do, but it's something that would be fun. At the risk of the construction workers there, no way. Of course they were idiots and got caught doing idiotic things and looking like an idiot on camera, but there's some of those in every group. I've read some stories on this board as well.
That all being said, I am definitely a bigger fan of the VW scene than the BMW scene. There's attributes of both that I like and dislike, but man, if I thought that VW owners were slightly snobbish, I was in for a suprise with the BMW community. That isn't to say that I haven't met helpful folks in the BMW community as well, but nothing like what I've found in VW. Perhaps it's just numbers that make a difference or perhaps the different makes actually attract different buyers. I mean, check out
www.vwvortex.com and see the sheer number of people that post and how quickly the forum moves. There's plenty of morons on there, but lots of folks and information that help out a lot.
There's even a local vw scene (Pittsburgh area - Crooked Euros), although it's definitely inclusive of Audis and BMW's as well, that is fairly decent.

I personally bought my 325i to move my car tuning up to the next level. I took the VW 2.0L about as far as I wanted to take it (as far as it would reasonably and reliably go without supercharging it), and I wanted a more performance-oriented base to start from. I had been thinking and looking at some VW mk3 vr6's, but when I found the 325i and the deal that I got on it, I could not turn it down. I love the car, and certianly the craftmanship and the power. However, the thing still handles like a damn boat compared to my VW. Then again, it still has the stock suspension and some crappy crappy tires on it that I'll just have to burn through. Haha.
Anyhow, my point of the rant is don't rip on VW drivers. Honestly, they're pretty dang nice cars for what you pay for them, and the VW community is nothing to laugh at.
