Not exactly, there have been some conversions, like the one featured in Corvette Lifestyles, see it here.

Then there is the 2006 model that comes in a convertible option as mention in this article from Autonet.ca , wherein they mention, " The 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in coupe and convertible versions."

That's all well and fine, but the first link is for a car that someone built out of a C5 to replicate the ORIGINAL Z06 from the 60's. The second link is dated 2/2005 and was an article describing the new Z06 before its production began. The bottom line is that there have been no real Z06 convertibles. Plus, there is nothing to suggest that this particular monstrosity is a Z06 as Kirby suggested - it carries none of the Z06-specific bodywork, wheels, brakes, or exhaust. It's just a regular C6 convertible dressed up to look stupid.

I guess we are splitting hairs and you have to define "real", however your original statement is false. Regarding the first link it is stated in the article, "this is a real 2002 Z06 that began life as an Electron Blue fixed roof hardtop..", it is a "real" Z06 that has been customized. Besides who really cares, the point was that to fake any Corvette as a Ferrari is foolish.

It's not a Z06. There are no convertible Z06s.
Simple answer: I do not automatically show inline pictures, just the URL. The URL is Z06Vette.com. I only clicked on the first two URLs to see the pix, neither of which show the roofline. I assumed it was a Z06 from the URL. I am not a 1960s+ Corvette fan to begin with, so I wouldn't recognize the lack of Z06 features in those two photos.

Man, you guys need to chill out. It was said that the car in question was a Z06, and I very simply pointed out that it was, in fact NOT a Z06, and the simple and true fact that there are no "real" production convertible Z06s.

In rebuttal, I was provided with two links to try to prove to me that convertible Z06s do in fact exist. The second link was a preproduction press release - however, no C6 Z06 convertibles have yet been produced for public sale. Dan was flat out wrong when he stated that the C6 Z06 is available in a convertible option as proved by his provided link. If you want to prove it, show me the link on chevy.com that describes the convertible Z06. You won't find one.

The first link showed a highly modified C5 Z06 (not even the same body style we are discussing here) that was in fact NOT originally a convertible. I don't know about you, but I don't consider that car to be a real Z06 convertible. If I took Dan's viewpoint, I could cut the top off my Camaro and install the additional frame reinforcements to "create" a convertible that would instantly make it worth almost twice as much since it would be a real 1967 SS350 convertible. However, I don't think many people would agree that my car would now be a "real" 1967 SS350 convertible. No, it would be seen as a 1967 sport coupe that was customized to be a convertible. Is that splitting hairs? A potential buyer definitely wouldn't see it that way.

No Z06s have ever been produced in convertible form for public sale. Period. That's the point I was very simply trying to make, not a prompt for people to try to find one of a kind examples that prove me wrong.

And Kirby, I'm sorry that my very simple and non-sarcastic response that pointed out your minor error somehow annoyed you.

You guys need to step back and really think about the direction you are taking this board.

According to the article in Corvette Lifestyles it is a real Z06 that was made into a convertible. I really have no idea if it is or isn't, but regardless I am not sure what this has to do with "the direction you are taking this board."? Ok for the sake of the board I will concede I was wrong and there are no production convertible Z06's, and the one I posted may not even be a Z06 (I really do not know or care).

Huh?

It didn't annoy me - "convertible Z06" became the subject of the thread so I thought I'd explain what lead me to my assumption.

If you're referring to the [rolleyes] that's a reference to the direction the thread seemed to be headed over my simple assumption, not your or anyone else's specific message.

So anyhow, where can I get those Ferrari stickers for my Firebird? [:o)]

I don't believe it was a Z06 since there are no side air ducts and the little air scoop in front. I think what he has is an aftermarket hood in addition to those nasty decals.
