V1 Hardwire in 530

New to Board...and BMW. Did a search, but didn't find anything useful. Anyone with experience in hardwiring a V1 detector on a '05 or later 530? I'd rather not go the overhead route, but wire to an on/off switchable fuse.

Why and what's wrong going overhead???

I have mine installed overhead. If you decided to go overhead. This E46 DIY may help you.

Have '07 530i on order. Plan to lease and worried about any installation that will require putting a hole in anything.
I have a C320 MB that I hard wired for a V1 by running the wire beneath the headliner and door piller, undeer the carpet to a free fuse in the trunk fuse box. Not as complicated as it sounds and I can totally remove the setup without leaving a trace.

You should really just take it to a professional shop. If you put holes in a replaceable part, you can always buy that part and put it in when you plan to sell.

I never put a hole on my overhead headliner. It slipped through between windshield glass and headliner with no problem and it's perfect.
