Two-wheel Hondas, which do you like better?

I am curious to see which of these two people like better. The Sabre is marketed as a “retro look” and the Spirit is marketed as “cut from the classic chopper style.”

I put in an online purchase request for the Spirit last night but I am still a little undecided. Power and other factors are the same or too similar to make a difference.

I like the Sabre/retro look. I like choppers, but with me it's either a real chopper or it's a weak imitation. IMHO opinion, the Spirit is a weak imitation of a chopper.

Honda makes great quality bikes. I have 2 classics my Dad & I have owned since new - a '71 175 Scramber, and a '73 750 SOHC (The first production 4 cyl. bike). Both still run, the 750 gets a 500 - 1500 miles every year. Soon tiime to fire it up.

The Spirit seems like it offers a more comfortable ride, but I leaning towards the Sabre for its slightly more aggressive look.

No, now THIS is a bike!
Oh, man now you got me going on BMW Bikes! That's a Boxer, I think the best BMW BIke is the K1200RS 4 cyl. about 130 hp - zero to 60 in under 4 seconds.

My riding buddy and I rented a K1200RS and R1100RT at BMW of San Francisco a few years back, and rode to Tahoe and Reno - that's me in the pic with the Red K1200RS. BMW bikes are just AWESOME!

Okay, but do you know how much money some of these others are?

I am spending like $8200 (total purchase price) for something to drive around on weekends with a little more power than my 750 Shadow ACE (trading it). I ride about 1500 miles a year and don't like traffic areas much so I have modest needs. [rolleyes]

Sure I like a lot of others, but not worth it for me. And when I would actually use something more, longer distances and so on, I would be on vacation and I would rent anyway.

But those are some nice choices[thumb]

Yeah, you can buy two Hondas for the price of one K1200RS. I looked *real hard* at buying a K1200 but like you say, it's tough to justify that money for 1500 miles a year. So for now I am just staying with my Hondas.

Aprilia is more "the Ferrari" of bikes than Ducati. That ST is a hunk of crap. BMW bikes are heavy and underpowered, difficult to service and have flexible frames. Ducati are nice but require too much service, have archaic steel truss frames and are far too expensive for the techology they represent. I'm not a big cruiser fan but I like Confederate motorcycles, Honda sportbikes and the like.

Calling the bmw bikes amazing bikes is kind of brand-whoreish. Yes, they are VERY nice bikes and every magazine talks highly about them, but there are so many better bikes out there.
