"The arrival of an all-new M3 based on the latest-generation BMW 3-series has cleared the path for Munich to introduce a sauced-up version of the 330i - adding a turbocharger to the recipe.
Do the math yourself: the new M3, which will ditch its historic in-line six power in favor of a 4.0-liter V8, is expected to churn out 400 or more horsepower. The 2006 330i comes with 255 ponies; by producing circa 330hp, the turbo 3 - to be badged 335i, according to British magazine Autocar - would nicely fill that gap.
Incidentally, the new 335i, expected to debut in late ’06 as a 2007 model, would also have two more horses than the current in-line six M3 sold in America…
Still according to the Brit publication, the 335i could be fitted with a new double-clutch gearbox in the model of Volkswagen’s acclaimed DSG transmission. "
