Toyota is down in the latest quality survey by Consumer Reports. But in my opinion, the real news here is that CR admits RECOMMENDING Toyota in the past WITHOUT actually testing the cars they recommended!!!

AND THEY WONDER WHY THEY GET ACCUSED OF BEING BIASED!!!!!

How can this organization have any credibility?????[whip] [thumbd]

Direct from Consumer Reports web site:

"The V6 version of the company's top-selling Camry, and the four-wheel-drive V8 version of the Tundra pickup, both redesigned for 2007, now rate below average in Consumer Reports' predicted reliability rating. (This rating does not apply to previous model years.) In addition, the all-wheel-drive version of the Lexus GS sedan also received a below average rating
....
because of these findings, CR will no longer recommend any new or redesigned Toyota-built models without reliability data on a specific design. Previously, new and redesigned Toyota models were recommended because of the automaker's excellent track record, even if CR didn't have sufficient reliability data on the new model."

Toyota's showing some *****s in their armor lately. Some reliability problems, loss of some key personnel. What's the world coming to! Next thing you know Priuses are breaking down left and right. BHahahaha.

I don't think it matters too much though. Their reputation is almost beyond reproach right now. They'll iron out their problems and keep growing until they're #1 and then some. Sigh.

CR is worthless to auto enthusiasts. However, for their typical reader "mom or grandma just looking for a basic vehicle", CR is fine. CR gives dumbed down general "suggestions", but they're not horrible. Their reasons typically don't have much foundation, but I don't disagree with their recommendations in the end. THey're kinda like a blind person who manages to get out of a maze. Had no idea how they did it, but they got out so the final result is the same I guess.

The new Camry is really nice. Is it fun to drive? Well, no, Camry's have never been known for that. However, as a basic commuter or family car, it is really nice. Yeah, the new V6 has some problems, but the basic 4 cyl is still really comfy and reliable.

Actually, CR tries to be the definitive guide for automotive reviews. They insist that they know everything about cars and that their opinion is the best, but the truth is the exact opposite.
