quick lap time and great sounding motor but very funny how they pointed out all the weak points like the leaf springs and plastic panels....

Very funny!

I will refrain from making any comments as I seem to always infuriate many Corvette fans here.
Only thing I found "funny" was the fact that it did so well on the road course. Let me guess, you thought the leaf-spring comment was funny right? [scratch]

I metioned this in an earlier post about M3 vs Z06:

BTW, the Vette uses a transverse leaf spring to apply load at the wheels. BIG difference.

It's lightweight, simple, and effective. Why not use it?

When you have @400 hp/tq, its sorta a good thing to apply load at the wheels. The video is cool; though I need to listen to it with the sound off [:)] .
I can't wait for the c6 z06. [clap]
I know, I'm being too sensitive. [shake]

I find the feel of the car to be substandard. I think my car has a more secure, solid feel that I would trust more at high speeds than the Corvette.

I am not going to make direct attacks on the Corvette but in my opinion it’s all about what level of refinement a person is willing to accept. To many a Corvette is AN ultimate driving machine and to others, myself included, it is not.

That's probably because your car has @ 200 hp and tq less than the Vette.

It’s no wonder why the ride is so harsh…leaf springs. I think coilovers would offer a smoother ride with comparable stiffness. I wouldn’t want to spend that much money to sit in a plastic interior and ride on a “horse drawn carriage” suspension. I think the Corvette can and SHOULD be more sophisticated and up to the minute in all areas. It’s the utmost representation of the American sports car.

Absolutely! It’s sad that we are a country so in love with cars yet we can’t make a product with appeal and quality to supply to the world. Further proof of this is the structural integrity of the GM trucks, and look at the difference between the GM product and the Toyota Tundra. This is very sad indeed. Also look at the cars that people here own, interesting how few Corvettes there are.

I agree. The overall quality, or lack there of, gm has demonstrated is frusterating.[?|]

That's the biggest reason I left the v8 world for the I6 world.

Well how much can you expect from the car? It's not like Chevy is charging a lot for it. I think this new Corvette looks great, inside and out, and offers lots of performance. Yes, using leaf springs does seem retarded, but the car delivers results. All the car magazines have reviewed the new Corvette and whenever they show pictures of the interior, I always remember being very pleased. This new interior is a HUGE step forward compared to the C5 Corvette's interior.
