I have my tires balanced every 3000 miles, but it is such a pain. I have almost 11,000 miles on the car with 5000 of these miles on the new tires. Each time I take it to the tire store, it takes a minimum of three times to get it right. This is my second balancing on the 5000 miles (I know I'm a little early). For the third try in a week, the manager drove the car and balanced the tires himself. The answer was something about one of the tires forming a hard spot where it needed to be turned on the wheel, something about too much lube not drying when they put the tires on, something about the balancing will always read 100% but actually not be, the staggered tire set up is very high maintenance..........hmmmmm I dont know anything about high maintenance......jeez, its all a bunch of blah blah........do you all have this problem too getting the tires balanced.....you all talk about taking the tires off in your garage......my tires come off and its always a problem........[???1] [???1]

I have my tires balanced when I purchase the tires and then again only if I throw a weight (rare), or if I feel like they have gotten out of balance, also rare. Usually I only need balancing twice during the life of a tire. I do get free lifetime balancing but rarely need it.

You shouldn't have to balance once every 3k miles. However, I do agree with you... not too many people know how to balance a tire correctly. It gets very annoying, because it is a fairly simple process and the computer does the work for you. (Spins the tire and tells the mechanic where to put the weight and what size to put on etc..)

I've had my best luck at a local Speedy by me. Even strictly tire business's can't get it right. Quite annoying. But once they do get it right, the tires don't typically need a balance unless I bend a rim or drop a weight.

The place near me Americas Tire Company is great. They have great prices on everything, wheels, tires, services. They will beat any competeters price if they are higher, this includes websites (as long as they seem ligit). Like I said they will beat the competers price so if the lowest price is $180 for a tire they will give it to you for $160. I havent even got to the best part, they will repair any holes in tires for free, dosent matter if you bought them there or not. It is great marketing, gain peoples trust, cater to peoples needs, then the customers will buy tires there, I know I am buying mine from them. They know what they are doing, never had a problem.
