I saw this today while driving to get a new radiator hose for my 3er. I was absolutely speechless. Sorry about the quality - took them quick with my phone - didn't have time to alter the settings to get the quality better.

What you can't really see is that the paint on this Caprice monster truck had large metal flakes - it looked like something out of the 70s. The pictures also don't convey the massive amount of bass being projected from the car.

I disagree. The gigantic chrome wheels and blacked out windows adequately convey the amount of bass being projected from the car.

That's impressive. A couple years ago, I don't remember even seeing a pimped out Caprice, but now it seems like every one of them has chrome dubs and blacked out windows and is a few inches too tall.

That's becuase if you have a $5,000 budget, you can buy a surplus police caprice, get it painted by maaco, and buy everything else from walmart/ebay.

Didn't the Police forces retire the Caprice and replace it with the Impala back in 2000/2001? I think the Caprice is just what it is, a worthless leftover chevrolet...

The city police here in Winston Salem still have a few leftover Caprices in service, so it is entirely possible that this could have been an old police car, just like Eric said.

I will say that this was no Maaco paint job - it was ugly, but the craftsmanship of the paintjob was amazing. Flawless. This guy has a bunch of $$ in this ugly thing.

They've got a few in NYC too, it's more of the phrasing "surplus (unneeded) police caprice" which makes it seem as though the Police are still using the Caprice as their primary vehicle... old police car yes, surplus caprice no (they're all OLD and surplus imo)...

Actually I believe it does. The reason the photos are of less quality has nothing to do with your phone. It has to do with the ground shaking so much you couldn't hold your hand still enough to take a good picture. That thing is atrocious.... [;)]
