Well I decide today on a sunny Sunday afternon to relax and clean the vehicle. As you know if you wnat your car to keep looking new and take care of it to its most potential and keep the paint looking fresh, tires clean and rims glossy shiny I found a way to keep your car lookign this way! Its how I keep my car clean on a weekly basis. he most it ill take you to do this work is about 2-3 hours depending on the weather if its nice warm and shady, it will take less time due to heat. here are the steps:

the car after a week of driving over 300 miles. Bug juice o nthe front bumper and windshield and tons of nasty brake dust

1. get the products. If you want to get some good products for a good price and plan on spending on less than 150 dollars. Some of the best place to go is Costco and Autozone. Good prices thats why. Here is hte products i use on a weekly basis.

2. Always clean your rims first. This wil lprevent from the wheel debris going back on the paint. Next use a good wheel and tire cleaner. I use Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner. Its the best to get rid of tough brake dust. Spary on the rim and tire and let it settle for about 30 seconds. Only do one tire at a time.

After that now get the pressure hose and blast that brake dust off the rims. Now you have clean rims!

3. Now pre-rinse the car well

4. Soaping the is the fun part of this. I use Kit soap since it gently removes grim and bug juice easily. pour about 4 teaspoons in a 2 gallon bucket.

Then throw in the microfiber washmitt into the bucket and fill it up with water and agitate the saop into the mitt.

Now soap the car!

After the car is done use the remaining soap and water in your bucket and use the wheel brush to get the remaining brake dust that didint completly come off from the degreaser. Makes sure htat the rims is pretty clean.

5. Rinse all that soap off the car so it doesnt leave water spots!

6. Drying is the hardest part of cleaning a car. I use a California water blade to get most of the water off so it save me time instead of using lots of towels.

After most of the water is gone wipe the remaing water with microfiber towls on the car, windows, rims, and door jambs.

7. Tire Dressing- I use Armor All Extreme Tire Gel- It gives it that glossy showroom look. I put some gel o nthe applicator and rub all over the tire. Make sure to wipe off remaing excess on the rim or on the edge of the tires.

before putting on the gel

after the gel settles in for 5 minutes

8- vacumming carpets and interior, a good old vacm cleaner does the trick in jsut doing a weekly vacumming on hte carpets, seat, and panels.

9. Leather treatment-This should be down at least once a month if your car sits outside during the day. Use the cleaner first to remove dirt and grim from the seats. it purifies the leather. After cleaning it apply the conditioner. It restores the leather and gives it back that new smell when you bought it!

After taht, Voila!!!! A clean new looking car to appreciatee for at least a week.

I hoped this helped some of you who are into cleanign your car or want to learn how to clean it! Hope you enjoyed looking and learning!!!

Nice man, you have decent taste in cleaning products.

BUT I think you need to try some products from Einszett, P21s, and klasse. I doubt your car needs polished like mine does, but einszett makes some nifty products.

Couple things to add, you’ve got to be careful with those brake dust cleaners because they do torture on the brakes most of them are just an acid, also never wash a car in full sun, the water sitting on the car in the sun especially on glass!

JCZ or anyone. great stuff, i enjoyed the post. ONLY ONE REAL QUESTION. what type of leather cleaner and conditioner do you peps use? i like the leather to look dry (couldnt think of a better word) and or new. i cant stand greesy products (maybe armorall??). i want no film left over or that wet and shiny look after i am done. as close to when it rolled off the showroom floor. thanks!

Great write-up! I love that EagleOne A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner, cleans up the rim and tire sidewall completely and quickly.

cbre90, a group of us here use Lexol Leather Cleaner and Lexol Leather Conditioner. It is not a quick process, but it cleans very well, and the conditioner keeps the leather in great condition. If done properly, it should not leave any glossy finish or any residue or anything.....you'll just have clean seats with a very natural leather scent. Check here:

Hmmm well I guess I dont wash my car properly because I do basically the same steps as listed before. Basically I spend 1/2 hour washing the the outer body, 1/2 hr on the rims and 3/4 hr doing the interior including polishing and vacuuming.

I dont think I have ever spent more than 1 1/2 hrs washing my car. Maybe my car must hate me.

otherwise, very nice choice of products and obviously a great tutorial because my car gleams and shines when I am finished.

There really isn't a time limit when it comes to taking care of your auto. Whether you take 3+ hours or 1.5+ hours, all in all it comes down to whether it stratifies you on final outcome. The amount of hours I spend cleaning my car is the result of me taking my time and going slow. It says nothing about whether the overall product is any cleaner than when someone takes half the amount of time….

Well over here in Germany many, many people use the automatic car washes....The car washes over here use some new-fangled Micro-faser type material to prevent scratches(i even wash my car in there when i dont have time or motivation to do it by hand). The thing is I have to wash my car in half the time I would normally take because the water over here is VERY hard. So never mind letting the car dry with soap on it...letting regular water dry on it is a head-ache...very bad calcium deposit residue is always left over.

@EPJ3: P21s rocks! They make a very good rim polishing cream that I just tried out a couple of weeks ago...people were asking me "how did you get the lip of your ugly rims so shiny?" LOL......[rofl]

Hehe nice adrean! I've been doing some shopping for better products, I'm done trying out every other meguiars product!!

I tried out the woolite/water thing to clean leather, it's better than lexol cleaner!!! I still use lexol conditioner though.
