With a mysterious name, a daring look and a possible production derivative slated for release in 2006, Suzuki's Concept X will be storming the Canadian stage in a big way for the first time at the 2005 Toronto Auto Show.

The Concept X is a midsize sport utility vehicle that Suzuki says is being aimed specifically at the American audience. It has a 3.6-litre V6 engine that, according to Suzuki, has class-leading horsepower. It will have a new four-wheel drive system called '4GO' which "combines on-demand low-range ability with typical all-wheel drive efficiency."

Suzuki was aiming for aggression when designing the Concept X's exterior. It features 20-inch, six-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with bold wheel arches and flared fenders, LED headlights, a "watermark" pattern projected from the front turn signals and satin chrome front and rear grille underguard.

'Infotainment' - a blend of navigation, music, news and information - is also an important part of what Suzuki is using to set the Concept X apart from other midsize SUVs. This includes 12-inch LCD screens for both the second and third row of seats as well as integrated bluetooth technology for use with passengers' cell phones, PDAs, e-mail and navigation.

The Concept X incorporates an antilock braking system, an Electronic Stability Control Program and curtain airbags for all six passengers. There are even two heat-sensing cameras placed on the SUV to help prevent the driver from running over objects. In addition to all of these safety features, 911 will automatically be called in case of a collision, airbag deployment or theft.

Factor in cruise control, an almost-200 inch overall length, outward-opening double doors and new technology like lane departure warning system, and you have a stunning concept from Suzuki.

I can't help but notice the Nissan Murano style up front and the infiniti Fx rear window... Suzuki is copying again, like Kia did with their amante... I guess the sales counterbalance the lawsuit and yield a profit.

there are no lawsuits for copying someone else's style is there? if that's the case, lex would be long out of copying merc business. not to mention numerous other manufacs. kia is only the latest in the trend, not something entirely new.

yea i love the handle bars for a wheel. maybe you can hit the fire btn, and it'll turn the fog light on and off.. might've been cool for an arcade cabinet back in the 90s, but there's a reason why no one else is making one.. at least its not a vehicross

hey guys, long time :p its actually not too bad looking, however, if its copying anything, the front of it looks like what acura would do with their next gen of SUV and the backend is taken straight of the new Toyota Sienna :p... well kinda
