while getting my tires rotated (my other car) at discount tire, i picked up a tuner mag. there's a guy w/ a 95 supra turbo (95 or 98..) that pulls 900 some odd horses at the wheel. he does the quarter in mid 9s, and w/ proper setup, he says he can maybe do the quarter in 8s.. it blew my mind.

not SUPRAising. hehehe. I have a friend that knows EVERYTHING about supras. on a turbo version, you can swap out the trottle body with a lexas v8 trottle body and space out the waste gate with some washers and gain 50 - 75 crank hp, that will give you almost a full second in the quarter mile. saw a 98 supra turbo withe little more than open exhaust and CAI running when i ran my car, 12.72 sec . that is one of the only jap cars i would ever own, soooooooooooooooooooo much performance potential.

i dont really care for em, ya know you actually LOSE power by venting the boost into the atmosphere instead of just recirculating it. its not much at all, but there is some loss

Ok, voice of reason here....if the guy with the Viper turbo'd his car then the Supra more than likely wouldn't have a chance. We are always and forever comparing these super modified Asian cars to stock American Muscle. Someone find a full blown Supra and a full blown Viper and then race them....I fear that the results would be quite different.

My 530i has 225hp which pretty much gets the job done. If I raced a Honda Civic that normally comes with say 80 to 100 hp and the guy mods the shit out of it....of course he is going to hand me my biscuits. Stock is Stock and Modified is Modified.

Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing the point here completely?

No dude it makes sense......but I think the point of the post was that it was pretty cool seeing the Viper get "walked" down! For that matter there isnt really any true way to prove it was a Supra that was being driven.....it could have been a Celica or Camry for all we know.........(shrugs) I had fun watching it!
