Hello all I am new to the site but have been a bmw fan for a long time. I am on my third BMW and need your help.

I recently bought a 2001 M3 convertible, upon my inspection of the car i did not notice that there were after market parts on the vehicle. But after checking other M3s I found that i may have some special parts on mine.

Pleas review the following photos and tell me what the red components are and if they are stock, aftermarket or a special set of options on the car.

please review.

I know the cross brace is hammann but I have never seen a red valve cover on a M3.

Does anyone recognize this stuff....

As well I should note the car is very very fast. Recently I took my friends new Porsche 911 twin turbo out for a drive and then jumped into my BMW, and I gotta say the difference was undetectable.

So take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think.

Other than the Hamann strut-tower brace, the rest of the car looks fairly stock. The valve cover and other engine parts appear to be stock, albeit painted. Same with the calipers. The rotors look stock.

As for the seat of the pants dyno, that 911TT is substantially faster than a stock M3, so your perceptions must be deceiving.

Yeah, except for the strut brace, the stuff just looks like stock parts painted red. Except for that red wire in one of teh pictures, although that might just be painted too.

You might have aftermarket front turn signals. Stock ones should be visibly orange and I don't see them in the photos.
