Now this would give the C6 a run. This was recently in a German auto magazine. It basically says:

"BMW is testing a 4.0 liter 400 hp V8 Z4 SMG. However, with the weak roadster market, they are trying to decide if it is worth building it. If they do it will be release in Spring 2005."

Part of the text (Wieviel darf er kosten) says they are trying to figure out what the price should be. The SMG would be the SMG from the new M3 (aus dem nachsten M3).

So what should the price be? They are offering big rebates as it is just to move the I6 models. I think they need to price it under $50K.

From what I have seen on TV, most of the test drivers typically have extensive racing experience. I think it would be very difficult to land a job as a test driver.

i think that this new z4 should have the smg3.....if not a stick =[
From what I have heard it is going to be the SMG off the new M3. That car is going to be a monster.

I wonder how much it is going to weigh my self....

Actually, I think it will weigh about the same as the 3.0L. I've been following a thread in a racing forum where a guy with an M3 is swapping the I6 out for a 4.4L V8 from a 740. The thread says that the V8 weighs 30 - 40 lbs less than the I6.

If you are interested in the V8 swap, read here. But note, this isn't an easy swap, if you get any ideas for your car!
