So, my AC is all messed up. I recharged it, and it went back to warm air within hours. Leak right? Well, my mechanic charged it, because as far as I could tell, the low side was fine, i didnt have a fitting for the high side, so I said screw it and let him do it. He said he charged the high side.

Well, I discharged the low side today, because it looked high, and it got colder. Then I put some freeon in and it stays about the same temp. So I drive to the store for some more freeon, and the darn thing goes back to warm. I had the car on when I put the freeon in, just when i drove it thats when it went warm again.

I am really confused and worried about a big bill to get this fixed, because it sounds like something is wrong. Everytime the compressor kicks in, you can see the drop in RPM's right? Not bad I know, but the A/C light button flickers everytime the compressor kicks in....I dont think thats normal.

Any ideas or helpful info appreciated. I have to drive from oregon to texas in 1.5 weeks...so this needs to get fixed.

Check to make sure the auxiliary fan is working, sometimes if it’s not working properly the A/C won’t kick on so the engine doesn’t overheat. My E34 used to do the same thing so I took it in and had them vacuum out all of the old Freon and put in fresh cans and she was running cold after that. Good Luck.
