Now that the new style has been around a while (the 5 and 7) and also with the new X3 just out, how do you feel about BMW’s direction now?

Sorry, I messed up the poll question but I still think its clear what I was thinking. [:p]

More for the $$$ and nameplate than for the enthusiast...

I have to admit I'm surprised the 5 sells so well, and I even see 6's and 7's on the road. It always makes me sick when I see a 525i on the road, the rims are so ugly and the car is so underpowered. [?|]

Yea, I'm "not completely sold yet" because I think they need more power and a few changes and they could be real nice.

I think BMW has been very honest thought because they are very open about the fact that they sell higher-end cars for a higher margin per unit. Essentially, they are all about maximum $$$$.

But I am starting to like the newer cars more than in the past.

6-series is ridiculously overpriced and doesn't really look that good. I'm glad I don't see many of them on the road (yet??). The new 7 doesn't sell me on the outside, but the interior is great and the driver is still great. The new 5, I'm just satisfied with...I don't have the same love for it as I did for the E39 5-Series. I agree with BMW325i, I HATE those poor-looking rims that come standard on the 525i. But the rest of the car looks nice and the interior is cool and I'm sure it drives great, but it needs more aggression. The new Z4 is awesome, I have no problems with it at all. The X3 is just okay...sometimes it looks nice, sometimes it looks really gay (I guess it just depends on the angle and all).

I am not quite as heavily weighed on the Luxury aspect of BMW's as others, so I will say the new 5 just hurts my head thinking about it, for some dumb reason I can almost like the bigger 7 & I cant seem to explain it ?

I too, like the Z4's & I guess since I like the sport models I cant say untill the new 3's are released. The new 5's are selling pretty damn well ?? so maybe its just me ???

But again I pray the 3's stay sporty cause I have "always" loved the look of the E-30's, E36's & E46's...there was never a "have to get used to it" feeling. Time will tell.

Out of the new designs, I like the X3 and Z4 the most. I really have to wait to see the new 3-Series in person. I don't like the 6-Series as much and I'm with Emile on the 7-Series.

I have always liked the 7 since the desing change. Still not to sure about the 5er, unless its the new ///M5. Maybe in time. Z4s look good but need work on interior. X series...no comment, never really gave them much thought. Love the E46, lets hope the change stays within the lines and resembles the E46 somewhat.

That's exactly how I feel. Take the new 5. I didn't like the pictures I saw, but when I saw it in person, I was neutral on it. Now I like it. I just got back from a 10 day business trip in the LA area, and saw quite a few on the road (while I was driving a Hyudai Sante Fe rental - yuk!)

I have seen the pics of the M5 and really am starting to like it.

You didn't like the Santa Fe? A few months ago a Hyundai salesman told me it was the budget X5 only it's more reliable with a 100k warranty. I have heard good stuff about the Santa Fe it does sell well here...(for the price/value)

My complaints:

- Torque steer was horrible - REALLY BAD and possibly dangerous. If I accelerated or decelerated in the middle of a 10 - 20 mph turn, you could not predict where it was going to go. It was really bad if you were letting the car return to straight ahead at the end of a turn, by letting the wheel slip in your hands. It was also noticeable at highway speeds. Torque steer is my pet peeve and why I will never own a FWD vehicle.

- The accelerator pedal was like an on/off switch at low speed. The slightest pressure made it lunge/jerk. Very annoying in stop/go traffic, which never happens in LA. [rofl]

The seats were comfortable, the interior was OK. The back seat is too small for 3 adults to sit in for more than a few minutes.

Well, thats why you get the AWD model... So besides the FWD (cheap rental model) theres really not much to complain about for a 20-25k SUV. I don't see why anyone would get a FWD SUV anyway. Let alone why a company would produce it; defeats the purpose of an SUV...[screwy]

Oh and the jerky throttle must be Hyundai's way of tricking their customers into thinking it's "very powerful".[hihi]

When I first saw pics of the 5, i hated it.
But the thing about it is, you have to see it on the road, especially with other cars around it. It has such presence, that you just can't help but admire it, and now I'v grown to love it...

I have also grown to love the 7 after seeing it on the road.

I don't particularly like the X3, but the X5 looks good, and I'v always loved the Z4.

As for the 3, the e46 is such a beautiful model that I can't imagine how they can make it look better. I am actually hoping that the new Ci (due in late 2006) is ugly so I won't feel bad for buying my car a couple of months ago... :)

BANGLE SUX!, is all i gotta say. If they change the 3 into something similiar to the 5/7. Im definitely not gonna get one. I've been saving for 3 years now to get a 330ci, but by the time i can get one, it will be banglized.... and i'll have no choice but too look for another brand... [bash]

The NEW 5er ROCKs MY SOCKS.....hence the reason I bought one. Good thing about Germany and the Autobahn is, if you don't like my car,....cool! You only have to see it for a second while I am passing you at 240-250 kilometer per hour. Unless you are in a Porche, then you only have to see it for a second as you are passing me at 270..... [burnout]
