Should I Take This Offer From Infiniti?

yo,

So my Infiniti dealership salesman calls me up and asks how I'm doing and how my car is treating me. He then asks me my mileage and tells me that my lease expires in 6 months, which is true and I am aware of this. He says he can get me into a brand-new 2006 G35 Coupe fully-loaded for the same lease payment ($630/month), and get me out of my car for free. All I gotta do is drop my car off, pay the first month's payment (no inception fees !!!!!!!!!!!!!!), and hop into a 2006.

I will spare you guys the real details, but basically I am still enjoying the hell out of my G, the 2006 model seems to have resolved almost everything I did not like about my current model, and financially speaking, I'd be straight up stupid to pass this offer up.

Tomorrow, I am going to fax the salesman the options and colors that I want for the vehicle, and an offer for $550/month at the agreed upon lease terms. If we come to an agreement on price, I am definitely going to go through with this.

Just so you guys know, some car companies (mainly smaller Japanese ones) are notorious for a move like this. This is the car company's way of getting you to stick with the brand, and it often works. Personally, I was looking forward to riding out the lease and enjoying the car to the very end, and then hopping into a 3-Series or a Z4, but this offer has changed everything.

What do you think? Is there anything I'm missing that should be considered? Any points anybody want to bring up??

Thanks,
MrElussive

word, and it drives soooo well. I asked my dad what he thought and he was like, "It's up to you, you know what's best, but the G35 is a crappy car and you should wait until the end of the lease and get an Audi or a BMW."

Thanks, dad. [rolleyes]

I'd be weary of a deal like that unless it was in writing. If its sitting in front of you. black and white, its more believeable.

Man you've been talknig with me about an M3 and honestly... could you live with yourself NOT taking an M3?

Don't get me wrong, the G35 is an exceptional car, but you want an M3...

Just my cent of advice...

Man, the M3 stopped being an option a few months ago. End of production run + BMW dealerships' refusal to get me outta my car for free (tried a few months ago) = E46 M3 always being a dream car for MrElussive. [:(]

And yeah, I can live with that man. The same way we can live without what we used to enjoy so much, so often. [;)]

I honestly would wait a few more months to see what Infiniti has in store for the redesign.

Its not that its crappy. Its just that they are EVERYWHERE. Especially in new jersey. Id like a car that has rarity to it, or at least uncommoness.

But.. The wise decision here is to go with the 06, thats a pretty good offer.

I wouldn't take it, as tempting as it is...

The reason?

The re-design of the coupe is coming and is MUCH hotter than the current model. I would ride the lease out until the re-design if I were you. In the end, even if the re-design is not pleasing to you, you can take the opportunity to move to BMW or Audi.

Hey Emile,

From a purely financial standpoint, the deal sounds awesome. Without thinking too much, my first reaction was "Take it". The G35 is an awesome car, and the terms are excellent.

But....Do you want to get an 06 model, when you know the new and Very, very hot new G35 coupe is coming? The new coupe looks better inside and out than the current one, and unlike German cars, new Japanese models are Always! better than the outgoing model.

As great as the deal sounds, I say just ride the 6 months out, and then get the new G35 coupe when your lease ends (Infiniti will still offer you deals to keep you with the brand, Japanese firms are even better at this than German). In 6 months, if you decide you don't want the G35...you can consider an A4, the new TT, an E90 sedan or coupe, the Cayman or 911 or even the CLK. You have tons of two door options...including the smokin' hot new G35!

but do you really want the g35. if you really want it then go for it, if you really want a different car than go with that. dont be forced to buy a car you dont really want when you could get the car you do want and that is a bmw

Thanks for the responses.

Exclusivity doesn't affect my decision if it's a damn good car.

The 2007 G35 Sedan is all-new; I am not aware of anything new for the 2007 G35 Coupe. The G35 Coupe just got its face lift for 2006, so it should stay the same until 2008.

Almost 3 years ago, I took the G35 Coupe over a 330Ci because it was hot and new, and you get way more horsepower for a much cheaper price. And now, the new G35 Coupe is STILL faster than BMW's new shit, packs more features than my current model (Bluetooth hands-free talking, memory seats and full power seats, better quality interior, projector bi-xenon headlights, 18 more horsepower, 19" wheels), and all of it is available for an even cheaper lease price than my current model.

If I can get my desired price, I will do it. The only BMW under $50K that I REALLY want is a fully-loaded Z4 3.0si. This all comes down to the fact that I place more emphasis on sport than luxury, and I want more of the cost of the car going into performance. Most of the new BMW's are more about luxury than sport, and I am just sick of the low horsepower output from the I6 engines.

No more overthinking, if I can get the car with my options and colors for my desired price within a month, I will hop into an 06 G35 Coupe. If not, then I'll enjoy the rest of the lease, and get the Z4 3.0si or the new Audi TT Coupe.

Yeah so I faxed over the terms of the lease that I wanted, as well as for dropping off my whip. Included were the specs I wanted for the new car:
06 Black/Black G35 Coupe 6MT
Premium Package
DVD Navigation
Rear Active Steering Package
Sirius Satellite Radio
NO spoiler or aero package

I drop off my car, and pickup the new one for $550/month (the offer was immediately accepted, no arguments or anything), and I only have to pay the first month's payment to get the car.

So a sales manager calls me back within a few minutes and what do you know, they have exactly ONE in stock, exactly in this configuration.

Clearly they had this car in stock for a bit and nobody wanted a manual transmission and this color combo (manual cars are rarely sold at all dealerships in Northern NJ/NYC due to the heavy traffic); end of the month must have been approaching, and I guess the salesman knew I would bite.

I pickup the car on Saturday....hotness !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Emile. Make sure you take lots of pics (inside & out) and post them for us asap (once you pick it up). I'm glad you made peace with your decision, and you seem genuinely happy...and that is what is Most!! important.

The dealership having the colour combo, options and manual transmission in stock, makes it feel even more like it was meant to be. I think you totally scored!!!
