Shipping a car from new york

Guys (and ladies) Thank you so much for all the help on the forum, I would have a lemon otherwise.

Very important question please advise:

I need to ship my new (used) E46 across the country from NY. The car is in beautiful condition and I am fearful of damage. I don't have the option of driving it since I need to be in California right away.

Does anyone have any advice about shipping cars cross country. Good companies etc... I have quotes from AAA advantage, and Angels shipping for 1150 and 1250 respectively. I could ship closed for 1600

My fear is that in the terms and conditions it says they are not responsible for leaking fluids damaging the car, such as battery acid etc.... and not responsible for Vandalism.

I'm not rich, just love my BMW. I have a car to use in the meantime, what should I do.

Thanks

I cannot speak for companies that are good or bad. What I can tell you is that the car will not leak fluids if it is properly maintained. What you want to do is go over the car before you drop it off for shipping, even take pictures if you want. It is possible they may scratch your car or something like that....it doesn't happen often at all, but if it does you may want some proof!

All in all, don't be too worried. Anyone you go with is in the business of shipping cars, so they do know what they are doing. [thumb]

It's not his car leaking the fluids he has to worry about. It is all the other cars being shipped with his that he does. Tom recently had two cars shipped. I know the Focus had some damage done during shipping however, I never heard how the M3 went. He may be good source of recent do's and don'ts......

P.S. I would only ship my car if it is the last gasp solution and there aren't any other methods of retrieving it. Good luck with whatever you decide....

P.S. Welcome to the board....
