Hey guys and gals,

I checked out the showroom at Flow BMW today when I was there ordering touch up paint for my e30. They had a new 645 drop-top in there! Holy crap! That car is incredible! It was Mineral Silver Metallic with the Cream Beige Dakota Leather. Of course, they had the top down. The car looks so incredible with the top down - much better than the hardtop, IMO. They had the back glass in the up position (wind deflector) - that's a really slick feature and well-integrated into the design of the car when the top is down.

It had a sold tag under the wiper and they had taken the window sticker out of it. Oh man, do I love that car! [thumb]

They also had three or four 645 hardtops, a line of M3s and M3 cabrios and a 760Li. They have quite an inventory there. There was a 850i that had just been serviced and was waiting for its lucky owner to come pick it up. Awesome, spotless shop, and really nice parts dept guys, too. A saleswoman even approached me while I was looking at the 645 cabrio and asked if she could help me with anything.

That's pretty cool, I got treated and have the exact same things to say about my local dealer. They are very good there.

Question -- how much was your touch up paint? I might need to buy a bottle or two.

I think the parts guy said the touch up paint kit will be something like $18. The way I understand it, it includes both the color basecoat and separate clear coat. I tried to get the paint a few months back, but all of the BMW touch up paint was and had been on national backorder for months. Apparently, the dealers can order it again now. They just need your paint code (a 3 digit number) or your VIN to order the appropriate paint.

I've definitely been impressed with Flow BMW here in Winston Salem. I've been there a couple times, and the parts guys have always been very helpful and courteous (unlike GM parts counters I've dealt with in the past). They even told me that they will match or beat any mailorder prices I can bring in to them.

Funny thing was that there was a big stack of steptronic tranny crates out in the trash pile! [rofl]
