Today on my way to the post office to mail out a package. Almost when I got there, some high school kid rear-ended me. I was driving past the high school (25mph) when children are present and had to go into a complete stop since there was a car in front of me. All a sudden I heard tires sreeching and *BOOM* my car went like a couple of feet (1 or 2) forward (Thank God I didn't stop behind the car in front of me so close). I went into this whiplash and felt pain in my middle back and neck. The seatbelt locked and sorta crushed my chest but wasn't bad. I looked back into my rear-view mirror and saw a maroon Honda Accord. So we both pulled over to the side and I got out of the car and so did the high school kid. Right when he got out started saying, "Dude I'm hella sorry". I asked for his driver's license and I jotted down his information. He asked me for some paper to write down mine, but I was busy writing down his information. He started saying "Everything's cool? It's just a scratch." (It ain't no scratch) There was his red line of paint across my rear bumper, my paint chipped, and the black diffuser popped out. Then he started saying "How about I give you $50 and everything's cool?" I replied, "No, I don't want to take your money". Can you believe this kid? Bribing me with $50 to forget this whole accident. All that time he talked and didn't even write down one single information from me. And so I went to the post office and went home to take pictures of the damage and called up my insurance company and made a claim. I have to take my poor bimmer to the autobody shop to fix it. It might take a couple of weeks. Until then my car will be a rented Hertz car.

DUDE, please TELL me, you CALLED the cops and filed an ACCIDENT REPORT. If not, all you're left with is your word against his and he can deny the whole thing!!

Sorry to hear about your car.

Sorry to hear this man, I also was rear-ended by some kid once when I was just standing on the crossroads, he was driving his mama's SUV. Funny thing - his mom called me next day and started telling me that it must be all my fault! People can drink in this country only since 21 but they are allowed to drive when they are just 15 years old, think carefully now - what is more dangerous for society considering that kids drink alcohol (and smoke dope) long before they reach 21 anyway?

you wrote that neck and back hurt. is that gone? especially this rear ending often leads to bad injuries of the neck. headaches, you can´t turn the head no more...stuff like this. i hope you got that checked. even days later the pain can start and you might not know what it comes from.

Emile is perfectly right. i hope you had the police to file the report. whenever i have an accident i make sure to have the cops involved. nothing convinces a judge, the insurance company and whomever than an official report.

i hope you´re doing fine and did not get injured. hope your car will be backl soon. you´ll see she will be all fine again.

I didn't call the police yesterday when I know I should of. I have some student witnesses that walked by and saw the accident. All I could think of was the pain and couldn't think really. Well, this morning I drove my car to the autobody shop and have them fix the car. Hertz rental lend me a Ford Focus which has only 4,xxx miles on the odo. The manager at the autobody shop said it would take about a week for the car to be fixed. Man, I really miss my car! [bigcry]
