I have a 2003 Z4 with only 17,000 easy miles on it. I just found out that
I need all new tires due to cupping. I check the air pressure regularly so
I find it hard to believe low air pressure caused this as I was told.
Has anyone else had any trouble with the run flat tires? Appreciate any
feed back. I am getting the standard tires this time.

This is from autozone's website (or advanced auto, I forget already). It's pretty on the mark though. I HIGHLY doubt low tire pressure on a runflat tire will cause cupping! The tire is BUILT to work with NO tire presure for a certain amount of time. Get rid of those crappy runflats and get some Bridgestone RE750's, S03's, or some hankook Z212's. [:)]

Cupping can be caused by an unbalanced tire condition, faulty wheel bearings, loose parts, fatigued springs or weak shock absorbers. Check the condition of the shock by forcefully bouncing the front end of the car several times and releasing it on the down stroke. Failure of the vehicle to settle after two strokes suggests worn shocks or struts.
