Car and Driver mag did a test on $35,000 Sport Sedans and got suprising results. It came to much supprise of the editors that BMW wasnt on top but it was a close second. Many of the faults came from the engine however, they had tested with a 325i which was slower casuing the defeat. The 330i however would have cost more thain $35,000 hense why it was not in the test. The top winner is the Infiniti G35, second is BMW, and a close third the Acura TL.

I read the article when I got my issue a couple weeks back. You can't be too shocked by it, though... the G35 is a sweet ride and compared to a 325 it definitely offers more performance and bang for the buck. BMW FINALLY has some serious competition...

Car & Driver has always been famously pro-BMW. (Notice that they even crack a joke that they really AREN'T on the BMW payroll.) But I think most telling about this write up is their last sentence:

"Let's just hope Chris Bangle's design work on the next generation does not end our enduring admiration for this model."

Put that with all their reviews of Bangle's recent releases…and you can tell they are seething. They are now willing to look harder at the competition. It's also the last year or so in the life cycle. They only judge the 325 as falling.

Thanks for posting that! Completely vindicates my choice of the 325i over the others. I wanted the best, decently powered (under 200hp) small, tossable sedan on the market...and that's what's coming next week! Can't wait. As far as I'm concerned the Infiniti is a commendable automobile....but way too bulky for what I want - and not nearly the sex appeal![:D]
