FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hollywood, CA - April 1, 2005
BMW Films CEO Heinrich Falschungmann, in partnership with Universal Movies LLC, is pleased to announce the upcoming production of "3 Fast 3 Furious - Eurotunerz Revenge", starring Laurence Fishburne ("The Matrix"), Jennifer Garner ("Alias"), Ludicrous and BMW Films own Clive Owens ("The Driver"). The movie is set in Los Angeles and will feature exciting and familiar locations such as the Westin Hotel, Venice Beach, Sunset Strip, Santa Monica Boulevard and Malibu. Filming is scheduled to commence on May 6, 2005.
This date was chosen specifically to coincide with the finale of BMW's celebration of BMW's popular 3 Series (www.3AcrossAmerica.com). On May 6, the "3 Across America" caravan will arrive at the Petersen Automotive Museum on Wilshire Boulevard, the same day that the next generation 3 series will be available for purchase in the United States.
The exciting, action-packed plot of the movie revolves around the ever popular theme of street racing gang turf wars in Los Angeles. This movie explores the sinister activities of a gang of European tuners who call themselves the "M3rd Reich". The members of this gang are easily identified by their rides - all vintages of the BMW M3 in various styles of highly customized Eurotuner bodywork.
This film will provide BMW enthusiasts with the first official glimpse of the next generation M3, and they will not be disappointed. The film's Eurotuner M3 elements will be standard features on the next generation M3. Christopher Bangle, chief of Designworks/USA and Adrian Van Hooydonk, critically acclaimed BMW designer and president of Designworks/USA, will collaborate with the film producers to incorporate Eurotuner design elements from the movie into the production M3. The new model will be available to the public in late 2006 and will coincide with the release of the film.
In a recent interview, Bangle stated "We will incoporate our trademark flame surfaced designs into the lines of the Eurotuner M3. This will be an uncompromising exclamation of Eurotuner art, form and function in a way that can only be expressed by Designworks/USA."
Van Hooydunk added "For example, we have brilliantly transformed the Asian ricer three deck wing design into a Eurotuner four deck retro art form that compliments and enhances the flame surfaced design elements of our trademark trunk sculpturing. These elements will continue to push the envelope of BMW styling and design." When asked about potential backlash and criticism from BMW enthusiasts over the Eurotuner M3 design, Bangle responded "It is our mandate and responsibilty to make a fashion statement in automotive design excellence. We must boldly lead the public to enlightenment in the tradition of our fathers - Da Vinci, Renoir, Monet, Dali."
