Power steering fluid leak

I just purchased a 1992 525i and I am now a bmw lover for life. But I discovered that the power steering fluid was leaking and the guy at jiffy lub said it was the pump. Where can I find a cheap power steering pump? Is it bad to put any kind of power steering fluid in? And how can I find out what is causing the leeking if it is not the pump? Any comments would be so helpful. Thanks.

Try looking at the pump and hoses with the car running and someone turning the steering wheel back and forth. The leak is usually not where the dirty oil is, but elsewhere. I would guess a hose before a pump started leaking.
