That show is whack. The one where they did the s13 240sx...the guy was a posted on a s13 forum and he said when they came to do his show they kinda messed it up on purpose to make it look worse before shooting.
...mines already in that "worse" condition!!!
yeah, PIMP MY RIDE! i was thinking of pimp my car since i thought of my car being pimped! i like the one that they did with the white toyota. where did embeded flat screens on the side. man, that would be expensive on the gas!

No, I mean the SHOW itself damages the car before they actually shoot it, just to make the change look absolutely necessary and more drastic.
I cant stand 99% of the paint jobs they do, or the complete lack of performance. They put on nice 17 inch racing wheels and then put on lame ass run flat tires and leave the suspension stock, so your wheel gap still look like you could fit 2 double double cheeseburgrs in it. Kinda looks....dumb.
And have you guys noticed? The breaks are always left the same too so not only do you notice the realy small rotors but braking is being "downgraded" at the same time (larger wheels, more mass farther off center, a lot more inertia).
To most of the people on the show, just having their cars look like something other than the POS it started off as is enough. They are obviously most concerned with the asthetic value than the performance value of the cars. I mean who needs 6 flatscreen monitors in their car??? What is the purpose? Your right!!!! There is NONE!!!
On one, the girl was a dog walker, so in the back of her van, they put dog bowls, in a clear floor, with a flat screen below it so the dogs could even watch TV.

Actually, I saw one where they did rebuild the engine because the guy had a CRX, which is supposed to be fast, or something, but the engine was wack, so they did at least pay attention to performance on that one.
The colors they do on the cars is stupid, and all that uneeded stuff is a waste of money as well (100 TV's). If I had my car pimped out i'd sell it and buy myself a new car lol!
Still I think what they do is better than what condition the car is in prior to the show. People do gain value on those cars for their upgrades and just being on a nationwide broadcast TV show.
The weird thing is that the show usually never does anything to prolongue the life of the car. No real mechanical work is done, it is completely visual. I think they do minor things so they make sure the owner of the car can pull it off the West Coast Customs lot, but I'm sure the cars are still at the end of their ropes.
Also, wouldn't these cars get stolen or stripped down? Everybody who watches MTV knows what the cars look like afterwards and these old cars have nothing to protect them (alarm-wise) from thieves and stuff.
