Hi,

I just bought an '03 330 and after the deal closed, they tried to sell me a few 'extra's. tire warranty, etc. I wasn't interested in any of them except the Paint Sealant. They claimed that it would keep the car looking shiny and new even when dirty, and that I would basically never need to wax it.

Anyone know anything about this? Usually I assume that these extras are all scams but I am intrigued.

LOL....sounds like the "nano" waxing that the detailer shops over here offer...they basically say it repels dirt and that you dont have to wash your car as often....not worth the cost unless they have told you a really great ("cheap") price......dont do it I say...just get off your lazy bum and wash and wax it! LOL.....(I need to tell myself that since I just had someone else detail mine for me last week!)

I would always choose a good hand wax over "paint sealant". Automotive paint is complex. Applying something like that could have long term negative effects - yellowing, etc. If it was such a great thing, the factory would apply it, just as they apply clear coat.

For example, did you know that BMW cars technically are not painted at all? They are actually powder coated!
