Well, though I never thought I'd do it....I am in fact trading in my BMW. I am seriously going to have withdrawls, not even kidding. I love that car. But since before I bought it, I wanted a truck, and being in Texas only makes me want one more.
I've decided that you only live once, and sometimes it's just necessary to go balls to the wall and do something. It'll be a little bit of a struggle to start out making the payment, but I am more than capable of doing it, plus my insurance is $11 bucks a month cheaper...not much but everything helps.
I wanted a GMC/Chevy 1/2 or 3/4 ton, looked at a few, but the payments were just going to be too much. Went to another dealership, found a Ford FX4 (1/2 ton, Blistien Shocks, and a few other upgrades, 4x4). 2004, 48k miles...about $20k after my trade in. It's in irreputable shape. A few knicks, but barely even knicks. They're pulling the maitenance records for me, and tinting the front windows the same as the rear. It's a midnight blue, 4 door, beautiful truck. Runs good, looks good, money's in the right range....so I am going to follow through. I was trying to get them to let me take it tonight, but insurance wise it wouldn't work, and the computer system is down for the weekend. Monday morning come...I'll have it.
It's better this way anyway. I want some last intimate moments with my 325i. I am not kidding, I will miss it sooooooo much. That's easily the best car I have ever driven as far as practability, price, reliablity, fun....it's quite a car. But it has 130k miles, and things ARE starting to slowly break. The muffler is rattling a little now, not just the muffler, but the piping under the car...it'd take a few hours to pinpoint the place and weld it back, I already tried once. The engine has a vibrating knock at higher rev's....but it still runs fine. I just don't want to be the owner when something breaks...they are expensive to fix. Buy back value was $6500. I about pissed myself. Back in Oregon, dealer buy back was $5000...and that was 1 year ago and 15k miles less. I had to jump on it.
I'll post some pics of my last days with the BMW and some of the Truck when I get it. The funniest part about this is...the car salesman is buying my car from the dealership once it's finalized. He want's it realllllly bad for his daughter. Like I said, this car is in IMMACULATE shape for having 130k miles, 11 years old, and having one accident. They couldn't even tell, and I'm not going to mention it.
I am sold on BMW's for life. I will buy another one later in my days, as soon as my career settles in.
