New Tires.

Im running out of thread on the ML55, and I am going to go for all season tires.

Which would be better, Pirelli or Michelin? Right now she's wearing michelin all seasons, is pirelli better?

Sorry for intervening in your decision regarding all-weather tires,

but why wouldn't you buy summer tires and a separate set of winter tires.
You got an expensive car and you live in an area with relatively hot summers and cold winters. So all-weather tires would kinda suck during most time of the year. It's not that expensive to buy a set of winter tires (here in Europe, most people who have winter tires mount them on steel -cheap- rims; if you don't have those rims most people think you don't even have winter tires on the car)

Dont have the money for seperate rims/ wheels, not rich buddy =), We got the ML used on a loan...

if i were ever going to buy all seasons (god for bid, but i guess it will happen once i get a practical-go-to-work-car) but lets say i had an suv and needed all seasons, i would go for a long life tire that will remain QUIET.

psshht...it's still an ML55.

MG can only get away with all-seasons because it has 4WD and traction control up the wazoo. Even still I'd rather go with summer performance tires but it's their call.

I say go with the Pirelli's.

Ive been leaning towards the Pirelli's because most of the reviews for the 4x4 Ditmiras michelins say they are bad in snow. While the pirelli's are good.
Right before we go to get the new tires I need to find myself a big empty parking lot..

Can you even do anything? In the ML500, even with ESP off the 4WD system is just way too aggressive (RWD all the time until it suddenly detects slippage) and the ML will tip over before it goes sideways. [:o)]

You can do donuts in the 55 easily, turn the wheel, and ROMP on the accelerator, you'll leave pleanty rubber. The 55 actually rides an inch lower than the 500, it wont flip.. The esp can be turned off, that way the computer nanny lets you go for it. In the rain the 55 can slide and loose grip easily, ive experianced this first hand with the esp off, it isreally fun.
