I could not believe my eyes when I saw the pics of the new S Class. Look at the center console, the flat dash with wood, the center armrest....Is that an "I- Drive" knob??? The double roofs/arches over the instruments and Navi!!! Also look at the rear of the car...... a "Double-trunk/Butt", like in the 745/745Li. No more center mounted gear shift selector...it's now on a little stalk, to the right of the steering wheel. Where did they get that idea????

I honestly thought it would be a cold day in hell when MBZ copied BMW.

Brrrr, it is cold [:D]

BTW Deutsch, where you been bro? Is it just me or has it been a while?
Hey, whats up Pete? Has been a little while...calming down from a busy work period. Have some breathing room now, and awaiting the German Invasion on Saturday (family is coming for a 3 week visit [paranoid]

I cannot even grasp that MBZ would copy the 7er, a car that has not been that praised on looks. Yeah, it of course drives awesome...it is a BMW, but does look like shiiiit :) The new 7er facelift front & rear looks really, really good though. Can't understand why MBZ would ever do anything to copy or mimic a BMW. That is soooo Un-Deutsch to copy. This is proof, that the world is falling apart [confused]

Holy cow, that's the first time I've gotten a closeup look of that rear end and I must agree its a blantant ripoff from the 7-Series.

I think the tail end looks great, it's kind of sporty and flashy yet still conservative, perfect for the S-Class. I don't see a whole lot of resemblance to the 7-series, the tail looks more like a Maybach than anything. The interior on the other hand, it is as if they didn't even try to hide their "inspiration". It is identical!

MB Exterior = better
BMW Interior = Better
Well put. While I don't think the exterior is all that bad; I can stomach it (but it ain't exactly pretty either though), the interior is just downright nasty in my opinion. Far uglier than in the 7er. I mean the dash looks like a modern update of the one on a 1990 Lincoln Continental. [V] [scratch] . Also, at least the 7er has wood on its pop-out "drawers", whereas the one's in the Benz are just plastic or whatever material makes up the dash.

Who'd a thunk it?? Mercedes did an awesome job on the CLS interior and even on the new ML interior (save for the transmission stalk on the wheel column). They should've definetly stuck with those types of designs....

Aw, yuck... [eek]

I think it looks a bit more stately and grand, but it doesn't look nearly as good as the current S-Class (which looks stunning with the new facelift lights). The interior also looks to be a downgrade. The exterior, however, does look more like a Maybach, which is definatly a good thing.

That brings up another question... As far as I know, the Maybach is basically just a gussied up S-class right? So will it also be updated? It wouldn't make sense for the $70k car to be on a new updated chassis while the $350k car is riding on the outdated one. Then again, GM did that with the Escalade and Yukon Denali a few years back, so who knows?
