Will the titles of the tracks be displayed?
from the commercial it only goes Track 1 ,Track 2, etc. but you program the lists, and usually since i program my lists on mine i always know whats next, and you can go forward or back to find the song, and you wouldn't want to look down to see the song, would you, you may get in an accident!

The way it works is mad easy. You just program playlists into your iPod using the iTunes software. Title each playlist that you want your BMW to read as "BMW1", "BMW2", "BM3", etc. (but only handles 5 playlists max, which is "BMW5"). Transfer the playlists into your iPod, plug it into the connector in your BMW, and stuff the iPod into your glovebox. Put your stereo on "CD" mode and choose one of the playlists and you can start listening.
Seems like a great system. The tracks do not get displayed (other than the track # you're listening to), but neither do CD tracks so it's not really a bad thing. It would be nicer if you weren't limited to only 5 playlists, but fortunately there is no limit to how many songs you can have in each playlist.

wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy an aux input from bmw and have them install it? it does the same thing except u can't control from the steering wheel and it actually works for those who have a Nav system. the aux input costs about $60 from bmw and $30 from radio shack and a DIY wouldn't take long at all but why're they charging so much more for this "ipod your bmw" install.

w/ that $250 price tag, it seems to be 150 for the part and 100 for install, makes you wanna go diy.

i have to disagree w/ MrE on this one.. simply having track#s can't be enough. CD holds maybe 20 tracks, give to take a few. i pod holds like 4k songs. w/out a playlist, or even w/ just 5 playlists, i cant' see myself having too much fun scrolling upto song number 2511.. [chair] and not knwoing the name of the song, until it plays a lil..

granted it's better than 3.5mm aux option, but is it much better? i dun know everything about it yet.. but from the looks of it, it could still use a lot of work.

also, since it does use a dock connector, i'd imagine it'll charge on it's own, if not at least be powered by it w/out using up the battery.. if that's the case, that's another win vs the aux port.. (unless you dun have the "pod")
