Whats wrong with it??

It wont be a piece of shit, it will be a BMW minivan. They wont call it a minivan becuase there won't be much about minivans like this.

You ever try to haul more than 5 people in an X5?? It won't happen. There's nothing wrong with this. Mercedes builds semi's and holds the major share of that market in europe next to volvo.

I do not like minivan's, but it's not like any of you will buy a bmw minivan to be cool -- you'll buy it becuase it'll be super luxurious, 100 times sportier and better quality than any ford, pontiac, or chrysler minivan, and it will still be a bmw. It's not going to be your typical $26,000 minivan -- I'm sure it'll cost about $45,000 atleast.

I wouldn't buy one for myself -- but I see nothing wrong with the concept.

The problem is simple: It cheapens the BMW name and heritage.

The hood and slope of the windshield are similar to a miiinnniivv (I hate them so much) nastyvan, but that looks to be about all. Nastyvans have sliding doors and front wheel drive. This (egg) is still a BMW, and hopefully will have all the quality that has gotten BMW to where they are. I may not like what direction some of the vehicles are taking, but BMW is tapping into different markets in order to stay ahead of the game. And if they have to make cars that I don’t like and other people buy, so be it, as long as they keep making the vehicles that I do like (unfortunately that area is growing thin).

It looks more like a raised wagon with "egg styling". I noticed theres 4 doors and a hatchback, no characteristic minivan sliding-doors...

The idea is a good one IMO; however, I have a couple problems with this one.

First, if there is a third row, entry is going to be very difficult. A function of the big sliding door in accessibility, this BMW appears to fall short here.

Second, despite what appears to be a forward movement of “cockpit” in the vehicle, I think what may give the “egg” shape and is common with all minivans, the back still appears small.

The purpose of a minivan, in my opinion, is to achieve a space factor like this picture with an easily accessible third row and still allow for cargo.

That's what I ment.. you wont fit more than 5 people in an X5... unless I'm misunderstanding you and you are agreeing with me.

Thanks Bryan for the pic. Has anyone seen the redesigns of the M3? I could not believe what I saw. By the way, I really like the new 5-series.

BMW did not need to tap into another market, being performance, quality and sporty oriented is what BMW is all about...let MB make BIG vans and Rigs like Volvo....BMW is not that market. There is nothing sporty about a mini van or MPV.

I think it looks pretty good. Granted its a "minivan" but i dont think it will hurt the bmw industry in any way. You really cant find a quality luxury sporty vehicle that can haul a lot of people and stuff. Will probably become the family travel vehicle of choice.

By the way -- to make this post worth it... if anyone's ridden in a town and country with EVERY option... the leather is great and the car is very comfortable.
