Well ok, it didn't really explode per say...
Last night I was sitting in my 528 outside of my girlfriend's place when out of nowhere I hear this huge bang, followed by smoke pouring out of the hood and coolant flooding the ground.
Now, I really have a lot going on right now, and was in a pretty shitty mood to begin with, so this was really not what I needed... After turning off the engine, I sat there for a good minute just staring at the smoke pouring out of my car. When I finally regained consciousness, mass profanities ensued as I popped the engine to see what the hell just happened.
Aparently, the side of my radiator where the coolant hose is connected gave way and blew completely apart. Hopefully, there is no residual damage elsewhere, but regardless, this definitely sucks.
Now, for quite some time now, my temp. gauge has been acting very odd. When my car would start idling for short periods of time (like in traffic), it would immediately shoot up to red; however, as soon as I would start moving again, it would drop back down to normal. Now, when this started I was obviously concerned (i think i posted about it somewhere) so I took it to my mechanic who ended up finding nothing wrong. He insisted that the oil temp sensor was probably just acting up so I just went on my way.
....Aparently he was wrong.
