Bmw used turbo's on gas engines up until the end of the E34/e32 production, and never stopped using FI on diesels. In fact bmw was (and I imagine still is) world renouned for their turbo 4 cylinders in the past.

All new diesel cars are turbo. Turbocharger is not a bad thing, it's just a good way to keep the engine small and light, and give you good gas mileage. It's all personal preference as to whether you prefer turbocharger, supercharger, or naturally aspirated. I prefer NA but it's no big deal....many modern sports cars do not really have much torque down low until you hit 3,000rpm anyways.

Turbo cars get good gas mileage????? Since when? DSM's get like 16 mpg if you drive normal and like 8 mpg or less if you push it. FI is horrible for gas mileage. They are better now-a-days though with better methods of controlling the boost.
